I got my start date this morning. Still in a state of shock but very excited. They were hoping I might be released in time to do 30th November (would have been a mad scramble to move back to Sydney in that time, but I would have worked magic), instead I have now been offered January start date. Relief and excitement is in abundance right now.

Congratulations Ains76 !! 😍🍾! Wow another person got the golden call , I hope this good news will keep coming . I checked my email all day today @-@ . It is really exciting to know the next ground school will be in January so wondering who else will join you in JAN. Perhaps me ! Haha . Did they mention the exact date will you be in Ground school ? I wonder if there is more ground school starting from January 🤔?

So glad I found this Forum.
I am sure every one in here will get his / her golden call.
After getting Active hold in September/October beginning of Nov I got the call with a potential start date mid Jan in Sydney.
Shortly after I got Asic and submit that a week later medicals which was submitted Yesterday.
Keep smiling and you will get the call when you don't expect it.
Hope to meet some of you in training.

Congrats flyinghigh, I remember we were mentioning about the active hold email and you said how devastating it was to receive that . Now looks what happened ) you are going to ground school in JAN in Sydney ? How amazing . I really hope everyone on here including me going to get to ground school pretty soon . It feels like a big family now I guess so keep us posted about your journey . Yay for you

Congrats to everyone that's progressing and getting their golden calls. Out of interest did anyone receive the "active hold, your app is on hold until the new year" email recently and then get medical email/start date etc???

After the active hold email,
They called, and informed me on training day ect. Then straight after the call you get the Link to Submit the Asic.

My ASIC has been done and refs checked etc a couple of months ago... Just wondering if anyone had the "active hold, your app is on hold until new year" specific email and then since has progressed to medical etc??

Hi all!
So what Qantas needs is an OPG dental xray so they can store this on their records. They are asking me to bring it to the first day of training. However they will not accept a print out, or USB. It must be on a CD-ROM. I don't know how many dentists I have called, but all of them cannot do a CD-ROM! (Do they even still exist?! Haha). Anyone else having the same issue?

Did your "on hold" email state that your app is on hold until the new year or was it just the standard "on active hold" email? Looks like Sydney happening quicker than Melbourne now.

So I just got all the info in emails, training in SYD! Fly out Wednesday 23rd in the late arvo.
Flights to and from SYD are as follows:
QF468 – 23th Nov MEL/SYD 1615/1740
QF449 – 24th Dec SYD/MEL 1630/1805
QF454 – 27th Dec MEL/SYD 1730/1855
QF491 – 30th Dec SYD/MEL 2030/2205
QF452 – 02nd Jan MEL/SYD 1700/1825
QF465 – 10th Jan SYD/MEL 1900/2035
I wasn't expecting Christmas and New Years off, but that a welcome surprise! It's just going to be a mad rush to get everything in order before I go. Such is life! Anyone else going? See you at the airport if you are!

Ooooh no sorry I just got the standard active hold email that basically said I could be waiting up to 12 months... but it wasn't long after that i received the emails for the next stages! You really can't pick it.

I was on "active hold" for 2mths before progressed to medical stage.
I just did my medical and now the waiting part😬😬😬...

SYD Ground School 30th Nov
Hey everyone!
Is there anyone else moving to Sydney for this ground school who is going to be looking for a place to live? Myself and my friend are moving over from Perth and we are hoping to find one more person to find a rental with! 😊

Yes you can wear Fitbit / Apple Watch totally allowed (I wear mine all day)
When you land isn't counted as a day off that's just the rest of your duty day (which is good for mel base most landings are in the morning)
Training in gs for EPs was very not 9-5, some 6am starts some 2pm starts
But you're all in it together so it works out fine, plus free instant coffee in the training centre!
Days off in ground school for me were mainly single days off with one full weekend
Also cca320 ask your dentist to email it to you and just get it put on a disk at the library

I might be looking to share again, when I come back from my Holiday, however before I get the confirmation of the starting dates contract ( they said mid Jan) ect. I won't be able to commit to anything 😊

Hiiii, yes I'll be looking for a place and fellow flat mates.. haven't started yet as I live 1&1/2 south of Sydney so was just going to travel for the time being but I've been thinking it would probably be smart to live with other cabin crew as there will be a mutual understanding and respect for the shift work. Have you received ground school dates yet?
