If you apply in less than six months, they won't notice. If you make it to the final interview, though, you'll get a rejection letter as soon as your credentials hit upper management. So, unless you just like to go to open houses, wait six months.

Cool GC

Hello all! It was a very long road but I finally got my GC the other night. This was my journey from the interview in Atlanta, GA, USA.

June 4- FI
June 14th- Submitted Docs
July 6th- Resubmitted Docs (photos lost by UAE)
July 17th- "Approval in Progress"- **exactly 6 weeks from FI**
July 21st- Grooming Email
July 26th- Grooming Email Received by UAE
July 26th- "You will be contacted..."-
July 27th- GC
September 26th- D O J

All in all, 7 weeks and 4 days to get to the GC. Hope this offers encouragement to others waiting. BE PATIENT!

If anyone has the same DOJ, please PM me!

Hey guys, I was wondering if I should put "Baby Sitting" under experience on my C/V? What is your take on this? Thanks!

Chris25 the best advice I can give you is that you should read this whole thread from the beggining , and if you want to know more and be more prepared, read ALL the "Emirates Wannabes" threads. And good luck!

AngelK "Ive heard the longer you wait means you have been offered the job... Is this true"
No... it's not true.

baccrat They usually count time in months, not in days so if you attended an AD in, say, August 2010 then you should wait until August 2011 regardless of the day.

Masrawy "Has anybody gone to an A.D without an Invitation before? and if so, what happened?"
I read that sometimes EK received their CVs, but did not let the participate in the AD... but in some others they let them.

nami if you try again in under the 6 months you have to wait, and you are successful, you get to the FI, and they send your files to Dubai... they'll notice and you'll get rejected.

Mikejr sorry, I tried to read your post but I don't understand your english

ShantelY why wouldn't you put that experience in your CV?

For Those Who Rec'd the Grooming Email

Hi Everyone! Question about the grooming email. Did you all sign and return a grooming form during your FI? I remember there was a document that stated the uniform and standards (hair, nails, etc) for crew members and we had to sign and return. Or is this email something completely different?

I had my FI on May 30, status changed to Approval in Progress on July 21. Waiting on the GC…

Thanks everyone.

I was told that baby sitting doesnt really count for experience. But for some reason, I think it'll be a benefit on my C/V for Emirates airline. What do you think? Should I leave it out or leave it in my C/V? I dont want my C/V to look tacky at all.. What should I do?

SO it would be still 11 months of waiting... DO you know If they offer any kind of exception about this??? OR I must pray for them to postpone the Open Day a couple of days? hehehehe....

Thank You!!! This will be our time Primaveracero!!! I remember ur last trying!!! We will get it this time!!!

Emirates layovers

Hello guys. I will join on 22nd August. I really wonder about the layovers in Emirates. Some people have told me that they are really short, compared to other airlines. Is there anyone here who can provide information about layovers? For example, New York?

Thank you...

ShantelY it is kind of difficult to give advice on this, but I think it would be better to leave the experience in rather than out. I read before that some candidates had experience as a nurse for old people for example and it worked for their advantage.

lax1990 if you're going to turn 21 within just a couple of months from the OD or AD, definitely try it!! Worst thing that can happen is that they can tell you to wait, but if they like you there will be no problem as long as it's just a couple of months.

baccrat you seem to have mistaken me for someone else! I'm "amiga" and I haven't tried in EK before.. But well! Don't worry!
About your thing... try emailing them! And if it's not too much of a trouble to go to the OD, then do it!!!! What's the worst thing that can happen? You already have the no

betterharbor Browse back, in the beggining of this thread *I think* Mari posted a long list with layovers.

Yes, of course no one wants you to get rejected for not waiting... But I meant (if they don't answer in HR) why don't you go to the OD and ask there?

Awwwww yeah.... it's a great idea primaveracero! knowing that EK count the year in Months, (not in days exactly) it's even more painfull... Just 2 days to make me, a "legal" attendant....

Layovers

Most layovers are 24 hours ! Only ULR flights are over that limit : LAX, SFO, IAH, YYZ are all over 48 hours . SYD is 48 hours when you do the long pairing DXB-BKK-SYD-CHC-SYD-BKK-DXB 24 hours in each stop except the second stop in SYD is 48 hours. If you are on the A380 you have the chance to go in the same city often this giving you a chance to visit more things each time.

Besides charter airlines who do international routes, I don't know any other major airlines that do long layovers .

Good Luck

Hi all, the day before yesterday my status changed from approval in progress into '' you will be contacted...'' . I'm so happy!! does anyone know how much it takes from when the status appears to the moment of the GC?? I am starting to think they might have the wrong number?
By the way, I had ym FI on the 12th of July in Florence and even though I still submitted the last documents only one week ago, they moved very fast now waiting for my GC and praying medicals will be just as needed
