Hello to everybody...
First of all, I have to thank you all for posting and posting and bringing so many of vital info, to us who are just beginning..attending Open days with EK and such.
Well, my OD is set on 29th of March, in Zagreb( capitol of Croatia). I have no idea how many people will show up, what will the competition be like, nothing. I'm trying to think positive, tho. For the last 3 years, I've worked as land steward, doing jobs like check-in, and I hope that will do good for me...though I know there are so many aspects they are looking at.
I tried for Croatia airlines this year, there were 746 of us, and I was the second best..but they never called me back. In Croatia u have to know someone to get a job like this..that's why I like to hear that EK only looks at what u are, and what u have accomplished in your life. And then, if I fail to get in, at least it'll be because I simply wasn't good enough, and not because my daddy doesn't know some big chairman.
So, enough of my babbling..what I want to know is..
I suppose the interview and everything in the OD is in English, right?
I already have a passport size photo....in which I'm not smiling...I presume that is not that big of an issue?

i am leaving on the 4th april and i am having the same problem, i have called them numerous times and they said they would send it to be me 2 days ago but i never received anything and i called them again yesterday and they said they would send me something today...still waiting although it is only 10.30am over there atm where i am in australia!
it is very hard to get through as well when calling! i kept getting transferred all over the place and to mailbox's that were full so i just had to hang up and try again
hope you receive yours! it seems to be a common problem for a few of us! i just can't wait to get it!!

Congratulations to everyone who has received the golden phone call and will be joining us soon.
As for DOJ, visa & final approval. In most cases EK sends you your final approval approximately within two weeks of sending the medicals. You would already know from your Golden phonecall when your DOJ is, therefore usually 4 days before flying out, you will receive your ticket and visa. I hope that helps.

Final approval
Hi,
I am still waiting for my final approval as to resign on time because i need to give my current employer 1 month of notice period...My DOJ is April 18th...in other words...i can't give 1 month notice period
Anyone had gone through the same situation where the final approval was granted late and you couldn't give the requested notice period to your boss? I am wondering as well if EK will make arrangement on changing my DOJ as to meet my notice period?

hi. anyone here leaving on april 11 for dubai? or the same week maybe? a have not started with my medicals yet because its holiday here in the Phils. Il do it on Monday. Its stressing me out already. What are my chances of failing the medicals???

I know one person in my group he has the same DOJ as you, April 11th. i just had my golden call last march 15 then details for the medicals were sent to me 2days after. less than a month prior to my doj! hahay. since emirates has an agency here in the Philippines, we have to do it at their appointed doctors/hospitals which is all the way to manila (1.45hrs flight from where i am). And since its the Holy Week here in the Phils now, everything is close or on a holiday. Oh well. Just as long as my medical result is OK, right??

and another thing. do you the email address of the person you were refering to? If he/she doesnt mind, that is. So we can communicate regarding our Final Approval. lolz.

about last group assestment prior final interview on OD
Guys, I'm terribly sad, cant explain my sadness really 
. I made it through the last group assesment that they give a case and demand suggestions on that. there were 10 people and the lady wanted us to talk for 15 mins and if we do not talk she said that she can not do anything rather than eliminating. So everybody started to talk without showing respect to each other, interrupting others etc. I realised that 7-8 mins. left more or less so I try to get in conversation by any means 
. Then I got eliminated. Guys, especially the achieved ones please TELL ME, how should we act on last group assesment before final interview???? IF we couldnt manage to talk properly in 15 mins. we got eliminated (its really hard coz others dun give a chance to talk), if we jump in to say our idea we got eliminated too.. WHAT SHOULD WE DO? First, I try to talk with full respect, "may I add sthg guys..., shall I add this..that..etc." but nobody listens??? then I had to act like them by jumping in to conversation. However, ones that even couldnt properly talk in 15 mins. got to final interview..What do they expect us on this assesment really??Im really confused..I got to another city, booked hotel, arranged suit.. reached to 1 step before final, then....It will be hard to recover after being in last 18 out of 200...

hi guys can anyone tell me how the medical results work? i got my golden call yesterday and now i suppose to do my results! the jy emailed me a long list! do i just go to my dr and have it all done there or where must i go? is it expensive? anybody had theirs done in london perhaps? can anybody help

The medical checks are very easy. Firstly You have to book in for a full medical check in any clinic, FAST~!! Because normally clinic is always vert busy and sometimes you'll have to wait for about one week to see a doctor. Also book in for chest X-ray, blood test, full vaccination report + do all the up to date vaccine that you have not done before, audiogram, full eye sight check and dental check as soon as you can. You can easily find those clinic in your yellow page. All of them would probably cost you about 200-300 US dollars. Print all the forms that they emailed you, bring it to the Doctor and ask them to filled them in. There's different forms for different check ups so just remember to have the right one with you when you attend you appointments. One last thing remember to ask each check ups for a full report because it is required. All the relevant details will be in your CC hand book and check list that they emailed you with your contract. everybody from your group should give each person to talk. if your groupmates dont seem to understand that, just listen to them and tell what you have to say at least twice during the whole discussion of 15mins. but never ever contradict another person's idea.

it may be a little expensive. although i havent done my medicals yet (il do it on monday), we are asked by emirate's local agency here in the phils to prepare cash for the vaccines and dental panoramic alone since they'l be paying for our medicals here.

Open Day in Kuala Lumpur - 6th April
hello everyone.. i'm new here and it's my first post by the way. i'm really excited on getting an email invitation for emirates open day but at the same time i'm scared and nervous about all these group discussion going about in the thread. i don't really know what to expect. so hopefully anyone in here could give me a pointer on what to do, what i have to get myself prepared for up ahead. would appreciate that a lot. by the way, anyone going for the kuala lumpur open day on the 6th of april??

Don't expect too much, if you don't want to be a disappointed too much after the interview. Just be yourself and SMILE! Keep eye contact with all the recruiters and be smiley - as much as possible! Be friendly with all the people you meet, like you know them for years...
And don't forget to be dressed in business attire! Hope it helps to you!

hi Marlon, I am in the same situation as you are right now. My DOJ is april 11th, and so far no final approval on my medicals. I sent them an email, expressing my concern, they responded the next day saying they were to contact me asap. No news yet... and april 11th approaches fast.
So i guess we need to wait and see what happens...good luck and please feel free to email me. I would love also to meet the other costa rican guys-girls who were selected. If we make it there into EK as CC, we will be the first ever from Costa Rica!
