Historically the process has frequently taken longer than expected - just to manage your expectations.

If you can’t find the information you require on this website (without complaining) then don’t apply as you won’t manage with life on tour with us.

Aircraft handling is 5-10% of what we do on a daily basis so if you are a child of the magenta line then stick with the airlines.

However if you genuinely enjoy problem solving then this is the place for you and you will love it here.
Why do you guys keep calling it a tour? Isn't it called a trip or block?

No CC and No Dispatcher? Yikes haha!

Not heard anyone call it a trip or a block, most call it a tour, I call it a rotation (old habit) it’s probably because we don’t know where we are going other than that we are on duty.

Hardly a big deal but as you may or may not know - all the problems you experience day to day are largely yours to anticipate react to and then figure out between the two of you. That’s the nature of bizav, it’s a fun and frustrating life that is rarely boring.

We have dispatchers. They're just not at the airport. They are located in Lisbon. Every thing is done remotely. It works ok. I don't know any different to be honest so I can't compare the benefits of having a dispatcher at the door.
It's been called a tour for as long as I have been in the company (rapidly approaching 20 years).

Flight plans/Dispatch works the same way as the airlines. The flight plans are emailed to us and the FBO, we sort them as usual. if we need a change we phone our dispatch team in lisbon who sort it out just like in airlines. If we need to adjust TOBT or whatever we speak with the local ground handler, like in the airlines.

Don’t forget to mention, not only all that wonderful problem solving but corporate pilots also get the joy of loading the bags onto the aircraft. Like 3D Tetris but really, really heavy. That joy is magnified ten fold if you fly a Gulfstream.

One thing rich folks don’t know how to do is travel light.

Doesn't sound like fun to me.

No, it's not particularly fun, neither is cleaning the lav, but it's important that prospective pilots know all the facets of the job, not just the fun stuff.

Just got invited for the next round: online assessments. 72 hours to complete, should take about 65 minutes according to the email, now suddenly its going faster than I initially expected as I said I'd be available for the last block of part 3 of the assessment 🤷🏼

so the taxation in Portugal is pretty high as far as I know so the net salary will be much less compare to the 80.000€ gross? If I’m not wrong

Some one on the Continent will be along soon to advise. However, I believe the tax rate for those paying tax to Portugal but who are not resident pay circa 20%. I stand to be corrected by those more knowledgeable. (I'm UK resident and pay in the UK).

The Portuguese non-resident tax is 25% on our basic pay, tour based pay, productivity pay, extended day pay etc.. In some countries you may have to pay an additional national tax, but e.g. in Germany this is not the case so far.

Social security is always paid in the country of your permanent gateway airport.

Hi, it seems a lot of hoops to jump through.
1) CV selection 2) interview recording 3) psychometric tests 4) online interview 5) group discussion 6) panel interview 7) simulator... Are they really that picky? Even the big airlines do not have so many steps!

With this attitude you will probably not pass first few stages, so dont worry...
I have done the assessment earlier this year and it was a smooth and pleasant experience.

Yes of course we are that picky. This is not "the big airlines". This is operating to the same level of professionalism the "big airlines" would expect, plus more. We need to know we can spend 6 days with you, count on you to help out, to be able to do your own job properly, and think ahead of the game and practively operate whilst on duty. One flight you're flying a CEO of a multi-national, the next a sports star/celebrity. This isn't an average gig. so why would you expect an average assessment.

To be fair, much of the process is part of the assessment centre, it's really not all that unusual. Recruitment is the single most important thing a company can do that is not commercial, getting it wrong can be enormously expensive. Overall the experience shouldn't be too unpleasant if you're prepared and have the right attitude.
If it's too much for you, then obviously the fit isn't right.
