Numb Nuts,

I'm glad you have made up your own mind. For those who haven't you have my opinion, however ignore my caveats at your own risk.

Phil

I simply can't believe that anyone with an ounce of sense would relaunch a company under such a tainted name.

Why handicap yourself from the start?

I fail to see what the point of all this is. Phil is spot on. If they have got their act together, AOC, no MD as MD, aircraft on the ramp, and not just on the business plan sheet, then what's the issue?

Get a few hours under your belt, and go off to net jets or the airlines etc...
the way people are talking on this thread is like their whole career lay in tatters because of this. Better to take the job and put the history down to experience, than to try and explain to the bank manager that you can't repay your loans because you have decided to not take a job based on principle, due to a previous regime.

Moral high ground ? There's none to be had. The old Unique is history by the sounds of it.

If MD is still involved, then of course the story is different, but it would seem that he isn't.

Phil, like I said I accept your points under the IF scenario, and yes I have a job, and yes there are those who don't. However it would take more than that for me to work for Sedgely even if I didn't have a job. Further, I know all the chaps in question personally, and I don't know one who does not think he is better off without Unique Air in his life, even the guy flying the Seneca to whom you refer. To reiterate, MS was the chap who claimed we were flying under an AOC (I have the email confirming this to all pilots from him). We were not, it was another of MD's lies. To be fair I think he got his information from MD and accepted it at face value, somewhat naively. The pilots did not: they sought the advice of the CAA and acted upon it. This fact subsequently stupefies MD's later claims about pilots making fraudulent claims to him: if MD were true and correct, the same pilots wouldn't have been within one million miles of the CAA.

Once that trust is broken it isn't really fixable, and my license and safety are not going to be trusted to someone so fickle and blase with them.

As someone said:

As with everything caveat emptor, if it's a job in a safe, legal and rewarding environment - take it - a boss is a boss and as long as they don't pressurise you into compromising the law or safety then it's worth a punt. If it's not, well, there must be that job going in Swansea Tesco...
This is exactly what it was not:safe and legal, although the flights which were undertaken were not for reward in the end, I think MD thought he could get away with charging by the back door on later bills once he had secured the contract. At least he said as much.

In summary what I am saying is your statement is a good one, but the IF in your statement will only have any possibility of AOC fruition if the original suspects have nothing to do with the new organisation. I suppose this means it wouldn't really be Unique Air, if that were the case. Therefore I think Numb is right: it's all very very hypothetical. Interesting developments though.

MD

The word on the street is that they are Looking for a Managing Director to run the business and are interviewing without MD.

Unique

WOW!!! still going on

All the points are valid, I for one have met, flown and been in conversation, had threats made etc, STAY AWAY from the man MD!!!

As Phil has said dont cut your nose off to spite your face, for whatever reason they have kept the same tainted name is up to them!!

I can see all arguments but someone will take a crew job if we dont. All said and done we have choices, all I ever ask is people are aware of the so called man who perpetuates himself as a Manager of planes or people. Do not hack at the good guys, Phil has defended and helped with finding info out to post on here.

Just keep the man from Tesco's shelf stacking

Thanks for the info you posted Phil, Happy flying all

Work overseas

You might be interested in the following article from a newspaper in Ivory Coast dated 18 December. The key section is the last paragraph (put it in Babel if you don't read French)...

Hmmmm? Single International Air Ltd. Is that singular?.......as in Unique ??? Whilst I have heard that Unique have indeed expressed interest in various types of operations in some African states, I couldn't say whether the "literal" translation of this article is connected. Would very much like to find out though !

P.S. Rumour has it that the CAA have been calling at Swansea collecting data and have contacted ex employees obtaining statements !

'Unique' is in fact a French word which can mean 'only', 'sole' or er.. 'unique'. Babel often translates things poorly in my experience.

I had a sniff around the offices in the TAG hangar yesterday and asked a few people but no sign of Unique there. They're either well hidden or in a different part of the airport.

Shurely shome mishtake Flinters?

Unique wrote to us some time ago stating that the office lease began at the beginning of January.

Discretion unfortunately prevents me from revealing who was being called in on a disciplinary and would only be used as a line pilot but ultimately a background with Continental never hinders the talented ne c'est pas?

Snoop

It's always possible they're in stealth mode or there's not enough in petty cash to pay for a sign on the door.

If someone can come up with their full address and PM me I'll get out my Clouseau outfit again. I've no axe to grind, I just love a good mystery

Simple website. Interestingly if you call the number a chap calling himself Mark Sedgely answers.
Nice logo though.

A lot of thought went into that website!

Flintstone,

According to the Aircraft Register the 550 is registered as to Unique at the Business Aviation Centre, Suite 114.
