Phone interview + more...

Hi everybody.

Just curious, last year, a friend was called for telepfone interviewing just two days after e-mail application. Thatīs standard procedure?
Or think itīs up to high peak demand due to crew rotation?

Anybody knows if they are still hiring, and what the forecast will be with new incoming aircrafts??

Thanks so muchĄĄ

Still Hiring............oh yes!

KOLDO,

I wouldn't necessarily read much into a delayed reply. its nothing whatsoever to do with 'high peak demand due crew rotation', this is actually a very quiet time. Its much more likely to be the system, or lack of organised system, operated by the HR dept. It seems that they have a determined purge over a couple of weeks and deal with a whole host of CVs, then perhaps nothing for a while. If your CV arrived in a quiet period, perhaps its not even been viewed yet; so just sit tight. If youre qualified on paper, you should get a call. Unfortunately, there are so many CVs from 'unqualified' applicants that they all need to be filtered.

As far as hiring in 2008, yes, I dont think that there is any slow-down planned for the time being - aircraft delivery in 2008 continues at a pace.

Good Luck!

6/5 and your family

I have a question for all of you NJE pilots who have families - or wish they did. I recently visited the company as part of a recruiting event and pretty much liked it all. But, it seemed to me, the norm for senior captains was to be single (or divorced) and still living a glamorous but nomad life. Bottom line is, if a pilot wants to have a family, shall he/she just forget about working for NJE?

Every now and then I have a look at Netjets, the lifestyle would suit me perfectly but I have always considered the pay to fall a bit short of the mark.

I have just looked at the website and see the pay to be 56,500 Euros and 95,000 Euros for FO's & Capts respectively - is that about to be reviewed or is this after the 1 Jan review that is mentioned on the website?

I have also heard that the tax currently paid in Portugal may also be reviewed.

Any updates on pay and benefits would be much appreciated.

MD

St Ex,

Divorce is unfortunate in this business. However, I know a lot of guys who've been in the company a good few years have a very happy and stable family life. It is a challenge, it doesn't suit every one and does take a fair bit of work to make it work.

(I don't have kids but that's not because of Netjets Europe)

Min Drag,

The tax depends on what country you're living in but the tax situation has been recently reviewed. I am not sure if it's been fully signed off yet. (on holidays)

Thumbs up Family Life

St Ex.

One of the BEST points about NJE is the family lifestyle that it gives you. I have young(ish) kids and it works really well for The Boss (Mrs spaniel) the kids and me. To be fair, I've always done a job that meant I did stints away, so its not been something the family had to get used to. However, 5 or 6 (or recently 8) days at home without having to give the Company a second thought is great. I guess it wouldn't suit all "Er Indoors'" - but i reckon the majority of us are married with kids.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again - the best bits about NJE are the lifestyle and the variety of flying.

Hope that helps.

I don't know if it is normal but when I did it, I got the invitation for the final round straight away over the phone. I believe it was normal then (about 18 months ago).

Now there's an interesting question.

If the company retype you they re-bond you too.

Nice.

Actually when I joined, a guy on my Indoc who was already type rated wa given a full (re) type rating but got bonded for 12 months and for the price of a reccurrent.
But some others have had to go for a full 2 years bond... My advice would be to make sure you sign only with what you agree with or to stay at least 24 months (which goes quite quickly after a certain age ).

Anybody know what type of computer based tests we're to expect in the interview? Looks like NJ's have gone for a BA style assessment for 2008.

Cheers.

bonded with typerating

Piloten, yep thats the case. But you will be bonded over the recurrent you do, not the whole typerating and only when they put you on the fleet which you have the typerating for ofcourse.

So it is not said that you will be put on the hawker800 fleet when you already have a 800 typerating. They will put you on the fleet where there are vancancies.......

N.

edit: typo

Natops. Is it still the case that once you are in the company and (say) have worked out the bond for your original type rating and the company re-type you they bond you again? A new bond every time you change fleets?

(Yes I know I alluded to this earlier but on reflection didn't make myself clear)

Yes, that is the case now Freddie...

Upgarde onto a different type and you win another 24 month bond.

Apparently it is illegal to bond anyone for more than 12 months in the UK though, not 100% sure of that.
