Didn't we have Manston a few months ago?
I think it's the wrong type of hangar for Manston anyway; maybe White Waltham?

Some form of 'Downs' in background? Untidy parking, University Air Squadron Camp?

chevvron 30th Aug 2020 10:18

The 'downs' in the background could be the high ground south of Duxford, but once again the hangar is wrong.
There used to be a singular hangar of this type on the south side of WW near the ATA HQ which later became ULAS and 6 AEF.

Agree with all Chev., lovely to see 'Downs'' described as 'Ups.' I live in the midst of such country.

Sorry chaps, I had forgotten I had posted, until gently reminded by nvubu. Real-life flying got in the way.

Not Manston or WW. If those are UAS aircraft, they would have probably come by ship! :)

No “downs” here, but “downunder” applies.

Might it be Maylands, Western Australia?

Sorry but it's out of my area of operations; I'm limited to that part of the globe between a line drawn N/S through Mauritius westwards to a line drawn from San Francisco through LA through Cancun to Rio de Janiero.

A long way further east - this aerodrome is not on the West Island. :)

India Four Two 6th Sep 2020 16:53

This should narrow it down, but the answer is still not obvious.

Mount Fujiyama?

India Four Two 6th Sep 2020 17:35

All my Japanese friends think it is Fujiyama, but it's a look-alike. :)

The early creation of New Plymouth, Bell Block Aerodrome?

India Four Two 6th Sep 2020 20:39

JENKINS rings the bell!

Bell Block - New Plymouth’s original aérodrome which was replaced by the current airfield in 1966.

Now completely built over but commemorated by road names like Mustang Drive, Hudson Road and De Havilland Drive.

The volcano is Mt. Taranaki, which has been used as a stand-in for Fuji in movies.

JENKINS 6th Sep 2020 21:08

Bell Block

Thanks. Sister married into New Plymouth family 45 years ago, but in common I gather for many in Taranaki, the entire family has scarpered. Shame, I liked it.

Now so long since I posted a photo, cannot find how to do it albeit having one available. Please excuse Open House while I endeavour to find the correct prompts.

Think I have cracked it. Ubi?

Waserkuppe?

No, but your answer gave me some interesting reading. The field came to my attention while watching television last week.
