Thanks. Ken Parry asked the questions, the single runway designator narrowed the likely locations.

Now this. Proposal to make it a 'Park and Ride' https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....68713da8e0.jpg
car park was turned down.

Maybe Phil Harding lives near there.;)
When there was an outstation of Harwell here (early '60s), did you know they used to transfer small amounts of radioactive material between sections using a Hornby Dublo model railway?
Not a lot of people know that.:8

It's not Grove but it is in England.

nvubu 12th Dec 2018 12:06

dook - are you sure?

When I manipulate a GE image of RAF Grove it looks exactly as your does.

The built up area to the east (left) and the research station to the west (right) match up too.

I have checked against GE by searching with the name.

Similar images as on GE come up in Geograph and some other sites.

It no longer exist as an airfield and I am happy to post further clues.

A quick copy from GE of Grove near Wantage

Three or four sites list it as Bircham Newton but I agree that it really must be Grove.

I'll withdraw it and offer it to anyone who has suggested Grove since Shakman isn't around.

Off you go chaps.

Bircham Newton (Norfolk; a few miles NW of Sculthorpe) never had hard runways but has got 3 'C' type hangars which are still standing.

dook 12th Dec 2018 13:03

Agreed.

Does anyone have the next ?

Shackman 12th Dec 2018 14:14

Apologies - away most of the day. Here is a more esoteric one.Sorry as well for using Google earth.

Clues - It was RAF and in the UK. Unfortunately I can't find any pictures of it in its heyday.

Glad you're back.

Shackman 12th Dec 2018 16:59

If it helps, there are now houses on the original dispersal/hangar area.

nvubu 12th Dec 2018 17:40

I'll start with Sawbridgeworth.

I had to search that Phil on Google but yes,
