Not in Canada but this community was originally established due to the presence of iron ore. Tourist oriented these days. I’m checking with the photographer about the colours. It looks to me like a filter has been applied. |
If those cars are driving on the left, might we be in Orstralia ?
Even a Rounders pitch.
If those cars were driving on the left, they would not survive very long! We are half a world away from the Lucky Country. I am aware of three different games might be played on that “pitch”, but I doubt that anyone would have the temerity to suggest playing Rounders. asturias, The picture was “Lightroomed”. You can take your sunnies off now! https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....f3b672ca9.jpeg |
USA any good ?
No cricket pitch.
dook, USA is more than good, it's a direct hit.
Definitely Not Cricket, JENKINS. |
Mountains look high & dry to me - California, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico?
Appearances can be deceptive. Further north than all of those states.
In case it might help, the view is to the SSW. The mountains in the distance are less than 5000' ASL. |
Touch of calm to the proceedings, Lake Placid?
Out for a couple of hours, so I fear OH if correct. Enough clues, India Four Two, for a former geography master. Was wrong about tennis courts, but I stand by my assertion of 'Rounders.'
Well said, JENKINS. I was going to try to work Desiderata into my clues.
The picture was taken by a friend of mine during the Montreal Soaring Council's Fall Wave Camp expedition to Lake Placid. I'm surprised no one spotted these in the background, which rather give the game away: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....536f9083a2.png JENKINS has declared Open House. |
Just read 'Desiderata' for the first time, totally unknown previously. Thanks, and a comment comes to mind, 'Party on Dudes.' I hope that the inference from this is not entirely lost.
Still Open House from me, but I have something up my sleeve if required. Difficult to be up my sleeve in a Tarzan outfit. |
Oh, go on, be bashful.
Right, try this.

Roof pitch on houses looks fairly steep.
Mainland Europe perhaps. |
Yes, so they seem, but no to location.
A very long shot at Canada.
Red roofs and a roundabout? More likely Australia.
Not Canada. Tarzan costume out of place there, but there is a link here.
And not Australia.
Tarzan - apes - Africa ?
In my travels I have flown from here.
Not Africa. This Tarzan, with a tiny (?) link to this field is from my own home town. Bought his own furniture, apparently.
I can't believe it's UK.
Won't get far if you believe that.
Am I correct in thinking it's being decommissioned and making way for roadworks ?
It might be near Yeovil. |
Thame maybe.
Grass at Thame, and still reasonably useable? Not near Yeovil in a strictly geographical sense.
Is there a connection with Michael Heseltine...…….?
South Wales ? |
The Welsh coal owner, Salopian, and Mace waver? Yes
So is it actually in Wales ?
Not in Wales, missed that, sorry.
That's why I originally asked about Yeovil as in the Westland affair.
Maybe we're near Liverpool. |
Stick with the Westland affair.
Weston Super Mare.
OH if correct. |
Yes, W-s-M. Westland had a presence there for several years in the final days. My one trip from there was to Little Snoring for Fakenham Races.
Open House declared. |
It seems to me that you went back in time in GE to get your image.
No, straight from my GE, unaware of any other way.
