Flap40 10th Oct 2019 20:04

Either i dreamt it or I posted this airfield a few months ago. I can't remember who solved it though.

dook 10th Oct 2019 20:06

My memory is not wot it wuz.

Where is it then ?

Flap40 10th Oct 2019 20:08

A short distance away from a scientist. Leave it up as others might also have a short memory!

dook 10th Oct 2019 20:17

Scientist ? You're getting as cryptic as JENKINS.

I think I get your drift.

Flap40 10th Oct 2019 20:21

PM sent.....

dook 10th Oct 2019 20:25

Received with suggestion.

Flap40 10th Oct 2019 20:30

Suggestion taken. It was InishBoffin (or Inishbofin) which I originally posted back in May.

Here's a picture that I took yesterday.

Got a good dive angle for that village at the top - about 30 degrees for a dive-toss release.

Strip looks disused.

Flap40 10th Oct 2019 20:36

Google earth suggests it is still partly in use.

Flap40 10th Oct 2019 20:37

Toss bombing from a 737 might upset the pax. ;)

dook 10th Oct 2019 20:46

The 5-6g recovery will certainly upset your aeroplane !

Somewhere in Europe ?

sycamore 10th Oct 2019 20:54

If you look at it on GE and turn the clock back to 2010 ,the runway `numbers have been reversed,at the wrong ends...

Flap40 10th Oct 2019 20:58

Inishbofin, yes but not the current challenge.

dook 10th Oct 2019 21:05

Golf Four Zero Degrees I say again - Europe somewhere ?

jensdad 10th Oct 2019 21:06

Well, I got the first five letters right anyway, but not one of the Aran Islands!
Current challenge looks Warsaw Pactish to me. I'm thinking Poland.

Flap40 10th Oct 2019 21:14

It’s not Poland but was Warsaw Pact.

dook 11th Oct 2019 13:21

Say after me "dook is a dumbo".

I put it up on 13th August.

Merseburg

Flap40 11th Oct 2019 13:25

DDR is correct.

dook 11th Oct 2019 13:36

F40 I posted above.

Flap40 11th Oct 2019 13:39

We seem to be doing well on the repeats! All yours.

dook 11th Oct 2019 13:55

Nothing wrong with repeats as far as I am concerned.

There have only been responses from a couple of people since you posted it.

dook 11th Oct 2019 20:02

If it helps, the orientation is about 260 degrees true.

Flap40 11th Oct 2019 21:30

Are we in the UK?

India Four Two 12th Oct 2019 01:22

I think it has a more US look.

dook 12th Oct 2019 09:20

We are in the southern hemisphere.

Naval.....

India Four Two 13th Oct 2019 07:05

I've checked Nowra, which doesn't match. Can I continue to search in Oz?

dook 13th Oct 2019 08:12

You certainly can.

New South Wales.

JENKINS 13th Oct 2019 09:49

Another, albeit very different, Bankstown?

amc890 13th Oct 2019 09:54

Nirimba, Quakers Hill

dook 13th Oct 2019 10:00

You were only 15 miles away J, but amc890 is there.

It was named HMS Nabthorpe.

Over to you amc890.

amc890 13th Oct 2019 10:03

dook 13th Oct 2019 10:11

Your place possibly ?

amc890 13th Oct 2019 10:14

You got it

dook 13th Oct 2019 10:19

Just entered "ww2 new zealand airfields aerial" in Goggle and up comes your pic without the bit of the aeroplane at the top cropped.

I'll leave it to someone else.

amc890 13th Oct 2019 10:25

@Dook. Hehe that’s how I got your one.

amc890 13th Oct 2019 10:26

Yes it is. Over to you.

JENKINS 13th Oct 2019 10:29

Mine will not delete for some reason -finger trouble - though found it a different way. Shame, would have been some nice scenery to view. In which case, on the assumption that I have the imprimatur from New Zealand, shall I go ahead? Back in 15.

JENKINS 13th Oct 2019 10:33

Got it, thanks, here goes. Nice spot you picked. This I have cherry-picked, on an impulse perhaps. 'As you Like It' may have relevance.

Self loading bear 13th Oct 2019 11:42

Is the relevance in Japan?
(Where the movie was recorded?)

JENKINS 13th Oct 2019 11:57

Yes, Japan, but I knew naught of the film. Another of my pieces of word play takes you closer. 'Blow, blow, thou winter wind' was the Shakesperian image.
