Good evening Karl & Brian,

I'm just getting up now for a five-thirty am start  I must admit I didn't delve too deeply into this 'coz after finding the FA articles and noting the engine/cowl differences I goggled Decamps A.2 and found your picture was in the San Diego Museum's collection, so I was happy knowing that you seem to use that as a source quite often. I saw Brian's answer just as I was about to hit the hay and looking closer at the SD photo, found it appeared to have Ca 17 on the rudder and so began to wonder if there wasn't a can of worms lurking there!! :)

A good Challenge Karl and a good find too Brian, I'm happy either way; gonna be very busy at work today, but could monitor a challenge, so I'll look in again in a couple of hours at my first break and if Brian hasn't posted by then, I'll know you'll both be asleep until mid-afternoon here, so I'll put one up to keep the thread moving.

Catch you later :ok:

Thank you gents. Yes, it does say Ca 17 on the tail of Karlark's challenge.

Here is a silhouette challenge:

Beech Duke with winglet mods.?

evansb 18th Oct 2012 05:33

Yes, correct.:ok: You have control. (which means "Please post another challenge)

zlin77 18th Oct 2012 08:29

I'll declare open house, as I don't have reference material available where I am today...over to the experts.

SincoTC 18th Oct 2012 09:16

Hi zlin77 and welcome to the thread :ok:

Thank you for declaring an Open House due to your current circumstances; please come back and continue to play, better still if you can offer a challenge sometimes, but not essential so long as you indicate "open house if correct" when you think you've got it!

I'll take the Open House to keep things moving as I had one ready, I am busy at work, but will monitor as often as possible, but don't expect immediate response to questions/guesses :)

Romanian mate?
Already on Mel's list?

SincoTC 18th Oct 2012 10:46

Evening Graeme,

Romanian mate?
Already on Mel's list?
Yes and No (well, it didn't come up on my search, but it was very late/early :))!!

Noyade 18th Oct 2012 10:57

And morning to you Trevor.

I was thinking of this...?

IFIL-Reghin RG-6 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

But I'm sure we've had it before? (Not that it really matters) Or maybe not - doesn't look exactly like yours...

SincoTC 18th Oct 2012 11:39

Well mate, you're very very close, just one out in both year and designation,

the RG-6 was '57 and this one was '58 and as you say, we have had the RG-6.

Incidentally, I have it down as CIL (Novitchi), who was in fact the designer and where I found the RG-8 on Mel's list, the RG-6 is under IFIL Reghin (twice), but not this one (fingers crossed) :)

'Artnoon LM,

I have a brand new programme which can remove your silhouetting work.
Wossit called then; "Finding the Original"?? :p

Lightning Mate 18th Oct 2012 12:42

Yes - wanna copy?

SincoTC 18th Oct 2012 13:23

Yes - wanna copy?
I think you're pulling my pooper, if not, then I'm interested :)!

I suppose such a program could work by removing Gimp's "silhouette layer", but I always obliterate all the original tone/colour and greyscale image data with another program before I add that layer in Gimp, so there wouldn't be much to see!

SincoTC 18th Oct 2012 13:27

Regarding my Romanian challenge, LM hasn't actually named it, but has made the task easier and as it's well past midnight in Oz, I'm sure Graeme won't be back now to finish off what he started, so if there's any lurkers out there, just dot the I's and cross the T's and it's all yours :ok:

Lightning Mate 18th Oct 2012 13:47

I think you're pulling my pooper
Sorry mate - couldn't resist it. :E

Lightning Mate 18th Oct 2012 14:27

The man from the Murrumbidgee will return.....

SincoTC 18th Oct 2012 23:24

Oh well, it seems there's no lurkers about, at least none willing to put my little Romanian out of its misery :{

It was the follow on to the RG-6, unsurprisingly called the Novitchi RG-7 Soim, manufactured by Complexul de industrializare a lemnului (CIL) and powered by a 105 hp Walter Minor 4 III

Karlark 19th Oct 2012 14:58
