Hi Greame. You are up early. It is indeed an Arado Ar-76. You have control.:ok:

Noyade 6th Nov 2012 23:11

Handley Page Herald ??

Noyade 8th Nov 2012 01:48

Tis the Herald Doug. :ok:

A very fast aircraft. Note the Victor chase plane in the background struggling to keep up...

Your control.

seacue 8th Nov 2012 04:57

I suggest that you look at the current Herald vs F27 thread in Aviation History and Nostalgia subforum:

http://www.pprune.org/aviation-histo...erald-f27.html

Comments there indicate that the Herald was a rather slow dog compared with the F27. For example "the F27 was about 20 to 30 knots faster than the Herald for the same fuel flow". But "The Herald had better short field performance and higher cross wind limits and hence was very popular with Channel Island operators."

Noyade 8th Nov 2012 05:57

Just joking mate. :)

evansb 8th Nov 2012 06:37

Well, one11 where is your challenge?

Nice one! Bombardier Dash 8?

evansb 9th Nov 2012 01:39

Yes, it is a Bombardier Dash 8. Can you identify the specific model?

Karlark 9th Nov 2012 01:54

The really long one... ?

Edit: Stretched out to the 400 series... don't know the exact model.

ICT_SLB 9th Nov 2012 04:14

Dash 8-400* - we've still got the prototype (S/N 4001) stashed somewhere around here. And much thanks to Westjet for keeping a lot of Toronto engineers employed!

* AKA the aircraft Boeing said they'd never build powered by the engine Pratt & Whitney said they'd never build...

evansb 9th Nov 2012 05:28

Yes, Karlark it is a Dash-8-400. It is a Q-400, identified by 6-blade airscrew, and strakes on the aft portion of the fuselage. It is a bit different to fly than the 100-300 series, plus it does provide an improved passenger experience a well, with leather seat upgrades, and a cabin noise cancelling system. Your turn.

Karlark 9th Nov 2012 12:24

Thanks evansb. Here is the next almost silhouette, an oldie this time:

Noyade 9th Nov 2012 18:34

Poor thing.
A beached French Farman of some description? F168 maybe?

Karlark 9th Nov 2012 21:21

:ok: My source lists it as the F-165, which appears to be pretty much the same as the F-168.

F.165 - Seaplane torpedo bomber with Gnome-Rhône 9A or 9Aa engines
F.166 - 230 hp (170 kW) Salmson 9 Ab engines
F.167 - Seaplane torpedo bomber with Gnome-Rhône 9Ab engines
F.168 - Seaplane torpedo bomber with Gnome-Rhône 9Ax engines; main production version
Your control, Graeme :).

Noyade 10th Nov 2012 01:36

Thanks Karl. Did the aeroplane lovers eventually manage to push it back into the ocean? :)

This too had floats - when built...
