Junkers JU 86?

Noyade 13th Sep 2012 06:51

Ki-48 installation
Googled that - it does look similar! But not a Jap.

Welcome zlin - not a Junkers mate.

MReyn24050 13th Sep 2012 09:44

Is this aircraft from the USA? There appears to be a step change in the fuselage contours forward of the retractable gun platform similar to the Martin Maryland/Baltimore. Another aircraft that had a retractable ventral gun was the Vultee V-11 but that aircraft did not have such a step change.

Noyade 13th Sep 2012 10:03

Morning Mel!

Vultee V-11
It is this machine according to the caption.

but that aircraft did not have such a step change.
Can't honestly say, maybe the photo was an early mock-up?

Either way mate - your control. :ok:

Good scrounge! :)

A job for Aerofiles mate?

(Mel - what happened to your "Vengeance-looking" challenge?)

Karlark 14th Sep 2012 00:18

Yes, you can find this aircraft in Aerofiles, maybe. :)

It was too easy to find by a simple bit of Google action.:)

irishair2001 14th Sep 2012 19:20

Karlak, is the American Pilgrim 100-A :hmm:

Karlark 15th Sep 2012 01:56

It is not the Pilgrim 100, Irishair. This aircraft was from a little earlier; mid 1920s.

Travelaire "Woolaroc" now on display at the museum of the same name near Bartlesville, OK
The first aircraft to fly to Hawaii in the Dole Air Race. As I'm only a couple of hours north of its current location, I'm afraid I'll be asleep when the UK resumes so OH.
