Morning Trevor
Certainly East European and had aerobatic qualitie but post WWII. As you say not too many countries to check.

Karlark 4th Oct 2012 16:07

Good Afternoon Mel,

Based on your clues I believe it is the Rublič R-7 Racek?

Open House if correct.

MReyn24050 4th Oct 2012 21:30

Hi Karl. Sorry for the delay. That is the one the Rublič R-7 Racek. You have Control.

Karlark 5th Oct 2012 03:32

Thanks Mel. I do have a couple up my sleeve :) but will not be able to monitor the thread over the weekend.

Open House

SincoTC 5th Oct 2012 16:42

Oh well, that didn't last long did it, but at least it got the thread moving again :)

No need for the question marks one11, it is indeed the French Potez 63.11 :D

Potez 630 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

one11 has control :ok:

Graeme,
I'm sure you're right - my source states it was re-engined with three Wright Whirlwind J-5s just before it stalled in a turn while on a test flight carrying a fuel load intended to get it across the Atlantic. The subsequent crash killed its crew of Commander Noel Davis and Lieutenant Stanton Wooster of the US Navy.
Your picture shows part of the aircraft's name & sponsor "American Legion".
Congratulations!
John C.

P.S. My link will not work unless you include the magic word bl*gsp*t in place of the asterisks.

one11 6th Oct 2012 14:59

First apologies for leaving the thread unattended for longer then planned. Graeme has it. A Keystone Pathfinder which according to my source was the American Legion rebuilt after its crash for West Indian Aerial Express and operated by them 1927/1928 before being absorbed into Pan American. Noyade has control.

Noyade 6th Oct 2012 22:44

No apologies required Doug, it's a big planet and life is unpredictable. Thanks for the Pathfinder, although I wasn't sure as the cockpit and strut layout were a little different on my net image.

Here's one not on Mel's list...

Plenty of clues there. Another Czech , the HC-4 unfinished prototype in the excellent but crowded Prague-Kbely museum.

Open house at least until later today.

Noyade 7th Oct 2012 11:09

Well done mate. :ok:

Open house.

Again, not a silhouette, but a "name the aeroplane" challenge:

SincoTC 8th Oct 2012 22:03

I name that aeroplane the General Aircraft ST-18 Croydon ??

evansb 8th Oct 2012 22:23

SincoTC is correct.:ok: Only one built and it crashed off a coral reef on the way to Australia. You have control.

SincoTC 8th Oct 2012 22:29

Thank you Brian, a good challenge, like a monospar, but in need of a bit of support!

Here is the next challenge. also not quite a silhouette :)
