Martin State, KMTN?
Sorry, not Glenn Martin State Airport in Baltimore. Not in the State of Maryland.
Bakersfield California? Now a dragstrip.
Sorry, not California. Wrong coast.
Bolling AFB Washington DC?
Shady is correct.:ok: Bolling AFB, (KBOF), in Washington, DC, is restricted to rotary-wing operations only. Your turn.
Nit pick warning.
Are you sure there is any flying at Bolling AFB these days? My impression is that it's entirely devoted to residential quarters - look at Google Earth. The helicopters for the US president are based at the Anacostia Naval Air Station which abuts Bolling on the north. Edited to add that I wasn't suggesting that it was Anacostia, just filling in the present status of Bolling. |
No! I am not sure! It is, indeed, Bolling Air Force Base. You have CONTROL!
I did wonder about Anacostia too but the buildings were on the opposite side: the lettering on the Hangar gave the clue that the photo hadn't been accidentally reversed. OK another real easy on for early Sunday morning.

Without a doubt RAF Scampton.
3 minutes, told you it was easy. Scampton, formerly home to The Dambusters, latterly, 27,35 and 617Sqns and 230 OCU, then the Central Flying School and the Arrows. LFT has control.

Is it Tangmere, prior to more re-devolepment? If it is - open house as still getting used to the 'posting pictures malarky'.
Steve |
Tangmere it is :ok:
As its Open House another one from me that hasn't been posted before. Control Tower may give it away.

Re the earlier post of Bolling Air Force Base.
The name rang a bell and sure enough my log book shows I flew into Bolling, Washington DC on 16 July 1961 from Wright-Patterson (Ohio) and flew out the same day to McGuire AFB (New Jersey). I don't recall that rather massive Bolling Hanger though. |
Boscombe Down?
Not Boscombe Down
Celle? NW Germany
Sorry it's not Celle
Is this actually a photograph?
I was about to ask the same question as Twochai. It look very much like a screen shot from a flight sim game.
RAF Geilenkirchen?
Edit; If not Geilenkirchen then how about Percival Pembroke XF799 departing RAF Gutersloh on it's way back to Geilenkirchen? |
twochai & grizzled
Is this actually a photograph? Captain Airclues Its not Geilenkirchen and it's not RAF Gutersloh. Furrther clue. The location is NOT in Europe and here is another view of ATC. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...wayAirfeld.jpg |
I'll have a stab at El Adem then......a.k.a. Marham but no grass;)
What about RAF Muharraq? :)
RAF Khormaksar?
Not RAF Muharraq, or RAF Khormaksar or El Adem.
However, if you tanked up an aircraft at El Adem with enough fuel for a 3,500-mile journey you'd reach the location just as the tanks ran dry. |
RAF Negombo in Sri Lanka, now Colombo International.
Not RAF Negombo in Sri Lanka, now Colombo International.

Long shot - RAF Changi as was........

RAF Changi as was |
Wild stab in the dark - Yelahanka?
Yelahanka? A Further Clue Try going south from El Adem and you'll be warmer. |
Is it Gwelo in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) ?
Is it Gwelo in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) ? |
Harare then?
Duckbutt
Harare then? The Pembroke shown was the first of four purchased by the SRAF in 1953 to replace DH Rapides like the rather smart one shown in my photo below that flew Sir Geoffrey Huggins, the prime minister of Southern Rhodesia to RAF Thornhill near Gwelo (Gweru) for talks about the closure of RAF Thornhill when the Rhodesian Air Training Group closed down in late 1953. SRAF Pembrokes were phased out of service in 1963 http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...AFDHRapide.jpg The 1950's New Sarum ATC tower still shows up on Google Earth as below. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r...Google2007.jpg Duckbutt has control |
Lets face it, Slim Shady crossed the ball for me to knock it into an empty net.
Where is this then: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...ler/Puzz25.jpg |
