How about Brussels Zaventem ?

KeMac 24th Sep 2008 09:51

It reminds me of Karachi but I don't think it is.It seems to have a British India or Middle East look about it.

Duckbutt 24th Sep 2008 10:04

Not in Europe, keep going KeMac.

grizzled 24th Sep 2008 11:06

Duckbutt . . .

Would I be getting warm by thinking French Indochina?

Grizz

Duckbutt 24th Sep 2008 15:40

Lydda it is Jenkins, now Lod airport. You have it.

Mention in despatches to Max Tow for identifying the Short Scion and airline despite my subtle (?) alterations.:D

con-pilot 24th Sep 2008 16:52

If I may, next aerodrome.

con-pilot's challenge

Is it Oklahoma City Airport ?

con-pilot 25th Sep 2008 17:22

Is it Oklahoma City Airport ?
I figured that my location would be a dead give away. Will Rogers World Airport, KOKC. Here is another old picture taken at the same time.

http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c2...scan0001-1.jpg

The two hangars in the picture are still there and being used. In fact I was based in both of them at different times.

Both pictures are hanging on a wall in my office. The first picture was damaged by water when a tornado brushed the hangar and removed a section of the roof.

In the front hangar a Jet Commander I was flying actually fell through the hangar floor, well the left main gear did. Fortunately it stopped before the wing or fuselage contacted the floor. It took us a while to get it out of the hole. After that happened the floors in both hangars were replaced.

JW411 25th Sep 2008 17:50

It is hangar dear boy, not hanger.

A hangar is what you put aircraft in and a hanger is what you put coats on.

evansb 25th Sep 2008 18:04

Thanks con-pilot, Good photos of OKC!. Here is the next challenge:

con-pilot 25th Sep 2008 18:19

It is hangar dear boy, not hanger.
Oops, quite correct, was in a hurry, all fixed now. :O

(I severely chastised my left hand. ;))

con-pilot 25th Sep 2008 18:30

Thank you Evan.

At first I though your posted airport was Dade-Collier KTNT, but realized that it is the Space Shuttle Landing Area at Cape Canaveral/Kennedy Space Center, I think.

The Real Slim Shady 25th Sep 2008 18:40

Is it Jacksonville?

evansb 25th Sep 2008 20:02

con-pilot is correct. It is the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, Space Shuttle landing strip. You have control.

con-pilot 25th Sep 2008 21:49

Thank you, open house time.

CathayBrat 26th Sep 2008 08:06

If I may

Cheers

KeMac 26th Sep 2008 09:46

A difficult one, but I will try Goma

CathayBrat 26th Sep 2008 19:14

Not sure if you can get one of these into Goma, with the lava and all.
Guess its not a good photo, was taken from my islander taxiing past. Lots of goons around so had to be subtle, they from 'da shoot first' area of the world.
Try this, same place.
http://i527.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/P1000165.jpg
ps about a dozen of these An-2's in various states lying around

norwich 26th Sep 2008 19:24

It seems too easy ! I'll try Kinshasa, N'djili. Keith.

KeMac 27th Sep 2008 08:04

It is a good year or two since I was in Kinshasa but I seem to remember the land being very flat around both airports. It looks like somewhere over in the east, I will have a stab at Bukavu-Kavumu.

CathayBrat 27th Sep 2008 11:09

Good guess:D
you have control

KeMac 27th Sep 2008 13:23

Thanks Cathaybrat I have a picture but I have got to belt out - open house - if nobody comes in by the time I get back I will upload my pic

BSD 27th Sep 2008 18:56

Heathrow?

BSD.

KeMac 27th Sep 2008 20:04

Not Heathrow

BSD 27th Sep 2008 20:48

On scond thoughts, Shannon?

BSD.

KeMac 27th Sep 2008 21:04

That's the one. I didn't think it would last long, the flag was a bit of a give away. The picture was taken by my dad when he was a First Officer with Aer Lingus.
Over to you BSD

BSD 27th Sep 2008 21:22

It was indeed the Irish ticolour which set me to rethinking.

Try this:http://http://s374.photobucket.com/a...rent=WA1-1.jpg

BSD 27th Sep 2008 21:33

http://http://s374.photobucket.com/a...rent=WA1-1.jpg

Second attempt. If this fails, I'll eclare it open house, retire to bed and rethink in the morning - it has been too long a day!

BSD.

norwich 27th Sep 2008 21:55

As BSD's attempt failed again (keep trying), I will post this little one, sorry about the small size. Keith.

con-pilot 28th Sep 2008 01:38

I should know where that is, the Sabre 65 in the picture is one I flew for five years. At least I think it is, hard to tell from the picture, sure looks like the paint job.

Racking my brain. :ugh:

BSD 28th Sep 2008 06:51

Early Sunday morning, and many thanks to Norwich for covering my failure to post.

I'll read yet again the instructions and try to figure out what I' doing wrong with photobucket.

Great post by the way Norwich, I haven't a clue.

BSD.

PaperTiger 29th Sep 2008 20:47

Is that a Rapide peeking in from the right ?

norwich 30th Sep 2008 06:49

Paper Tiger, Not a rapide, I think its a Boeing 737 ? although I have lost the original that this is clipped from ? Keith.

evansb 30th Sep 2008 17:09

Is the airport in a country ending in 'stan' ?

norwich 30th Sep 2008 17:51

Sorry evansb uncle 'stan' is not at home here ???

Trying to think of a cluette .... Think Central, think westish, think large continent ?????

Keith.

Reimers 3rd Oct 2008 09:53

New record?

So, is this a new record for this challenge?
No guesses for three days, and the picture has been up for almost a week!

KeMac 3rd Oct 2008 10:13

It has me completely stumped. I first thought Asia - Cambodia or Philippines -somewhere like that but then I thought maybe Central America - other than thought I do not have a clue.

BSD 3rd Oct 2008 10:30

Stumped here too! Maybe Central Africa fits the bill. Looks irritatingly familiar as well.

How about Zaire, Kisangani?

BSD.

norwich 3rd Oct 2008 14:57

BSD is getting very very warm !!! Just googled the venue and an almost identical photo is available 'out there' ..... Keith
