Asturias has already been messaging me saying I'm making it too easy...Leaving the photo captions on is a dead giveaway I could delete the pic and you could delete your comment and we could continue pretending
Given the number of German tourists in Puerta Pollensa I think Chevron might be right

Kiel-Holtenau it is...Or to be exact Kiel-Voßberg in the early pics: Same location but the name changed in the 20s. Geschichte Holtenaus - Der Holtenauer Flugplatz
Kiel started out as a Marineflieger base in 1914, but there had been aviation activity since 1908 with hang glider development and even a Prall airship built there.
I lived in Kiel for four years and flew balloons and gliders from, over and to Holtenau The military side has closed, but the civvy side is still active.
Holtenau from the west with the Kieler Förde behind.
And from the east, overhead Kiel-Gaarden, with the airport behind and the Tirpitzhafen just in front of that..Home of HDW shipbuilding, the two red ferries are Superfast 7 & 8 destined for Greece.. I worked here for 3 months building the Frigate Hamburg: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburg_(F_220)
The same location but from a different perspective
Finally my Oly 2B that I towed from Brentor to Ki and restored over the winter in 2001 but never actually got to fly...(long story)
Anyway apologies for the photo detour again, it's OUAQUKGF Ops turn to bamboozle us

Interesting images. Thank you 621andy. No need to tow your glider back as far as Brentor to find this airfield.............(small clue already)...........

Yes I'd noticed he had gone AWOL but then I remembered that June/july is the time when the whole of the Netherlands opens up their underground bunkers, hitches up their caravans and has a wonderful time filling the roads of W Europe while traveling at 8 kph
