The location is quite well known but the nearest commercial airport is about 100km away.

We are indeed in that area. Not aware of the airport being in a Reserve. It's in one of the countries you mentioned and very close to the other.
looks like the country south of San Pedro de Atacama - I've got a load of pictures from round there but one volcano looks....................

I'll give you that. It's San Pedro de Atacama(SCPE). I worked there for two seasons flying balloons. A stunning location.
The Bolivian border is just behind the Volcano (Licancabur) in the pic of the Cheyenne, about 20km outside of SPA, and the Argentinian border is about 150km further on over a pass at about 17000'.
The 'hillside' you can see behind the Citation is home to the main control centre for the ALMA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atacam...External_links) antenna array, which is actually up on a plateau behind. This accounts for some of the 'traffic' into SCPE, the rest being the monied classes from Santiago or hotel owners collecting their cash. The Citation is owned by a hotel chain.
Looking on Google Earth the terminal buildings seem to have disappeared since 2017 and some sort of structure has appeared on the edge of the apron. The runway itself has been tidied up and improved too...
Last shot is one of three Twotters normally based down south in Punta Arenas that did a couple of approaches one morning...
Anyway, well done; back to you!

It's an amazing area! You can easily get over 15,000 ft just driving......... I've been on here a fair bit recently so will go Open House
