I'm baffled???
However I've been to the cafe in Arles that he painted - what you need to know is why everyone is right at the back -
a) he was this weird Dutch guy who painted weirder stuff
b) he painted at night with a large sombrero with candles stuck on it
these days he'd have been sorted out by the CRS................

very modern for its time - is that a York on the left?
There's a dihedral horizontal stab with de-icer boot, that is quite high up and the round back end of the fusalage below.
No Idea where though.

P.S. I used to be able to tell the difference between all sorts of aircraft types and variants. Last year while waiting for a flight at Heathrow I couldn't tell a Boeing 787 from an Airbus 350.

A 1936 photo - the aerodrome has featured before, it probably won't last very long, but I like this evocative photo.
