I guess the "no longer active" pretty much closed it down and Krakatoa was fastest with the right one, Nutts Corner. Belfast has had airline service from 4 different fields since the 30s and all but this one are stilll active in some way (Aldergrove/International : Sydenham/Harbour/City/George Best & Newtownards)

Just before Krakatoa comes back. With reference to his Kirkwall query; Hatston is not the current Kirkwall. Most of the concrete hangars and a good few of the other buildings are still extant at Hatston but the runways have largely gone it is now an industrial estate. Kirkwall airport is at the former Grimsetter about 3 miles from Hatston on the other side of town.
