It´s in Europe but not in Germany or Austria. The river is not the Rhein.

Seenthelight and Mr.Grubby, both are correct.

It is Gorizia in Italy seen from the OEARD during a glidertow.

Gorizia is an very old airfield. First operator was the Austro Hungarian Army during the Great war. So in 5 years the airfield could celebrate 100 years of continuos operation, but I learned, that it could be closed in the near future.

Looks quite Soviet Bloc perhaps? (concrete slab runway). Are they Yak's or Tupolev's on the right?
