While the Cub, the Popular aircraft of its day, could use this airfield with ease it would have been very interesting indeed to see a Whitley or two use the grass runway(s).

So would that be Stapleford Tawney then?

Open house if I'm right.

It is indeed Stapleford, the base of a SOS with Lizzies and Whitleys for a very short period. Was it the Whitley or the cryptic Popular reference that gave it away?

Open House!

Here's a late 1970s shot of Stapleford which I was hoping to use shortly.

Never mind, try this one instead,

Guernsey

Yes of course RR. Having G-JOEY sitting across the other side of the apron made it far too easy. I used to love flying JOEY, it always seemed to spark life into the pax. I can't find a source for the G-JOEY books any more, as they were published in 1981 I suppose they are collectors items by now.

Seems like the real JOEY still puts in a full days work. Aurigny Air Services: For cheap flights to the Channel Islands

Any 1980s Aurigny crews out there please PM me.
Thanks over to you RR.

Thanks OBP. Yes, I enjoyed many a trip eithe JER-GCI or GCI-ALD in the Trislanders in the mid-1980s. Great fun!

Here's one that may not last long.

On the basis that it is an Aussie Fokker butnot knowing anything about Aussie airfields I'll make a wild guess at Melbourne. RR
