Can't be NSW, the shadows point in the wrong direction. As John says, must be northern hemisphere.

Correct ! Well done.

Apart from it being destroyed by a Cyclone in 1908, nothing of great import has happened here. They did hold a spoof Winter Olympics when Albertville in France was host to the real Winter Olympics in 1992.

The other Albertville in the USA is in Minnesota.

And the third Albertville is in Chippewa County, Wisconsin. It's hardly even a wide place in the road, but a railway goes past there and it was probably more important before road transport came of age. Google Earth claims that the Albertville Tavern is at the place, so it must be real. It's about 70 miles east of KMSP.
