Descol and Mr_G
Not Amboseli or any of Mr_G's choices, though oddly enough the pax on the Seneca had a morning game drive at Kilaguni in Tsavo West and an afternoon drive at Amboseli before the nightstop at ????????????????
The flight started out in Mombasa.

"Can anyone help, where is this airfield?"
At the risk of thread drift; there is another thread running of the above title below. Can any of you experts out there help solve the problem?

OBP.
The Hurri Hills of northern Kenya.
Traditionally, the Hurri Hills were used by nomadic Gabra pastoralists and their herds who only visited the area at certain times of the year.

The only place that I can recall from 1981 is Serena Lodge, although it is on the Mara, it doesn't translate to anyone's head.
Minor point or order: Game parks along the Mara (In Kenya) didn't exist in 1979; it was a "Game Reserve".
But one day for a flight Mombasa-Kilaguni-Amboseli and then to the Mara river is a lot of missing everything, even at low level.
However, shauri yako!

Thank you Russell.
Your comments prompted me to check my logbook. I don't know what made me think it was 1979 it would have been 1981 0r 1982.
You are obviously referring to Mara Serena Lodge so getting quite close.
As a matter of fact my first flight into the Masai Mara I landed at Mara Serena but I was supposed to be going to Governors Camp. The only info I had was that the runway was east/west and was on the Mara River. Both camps fit that description. When nobody came to meet us I get airbourne again and circled the lodge to get some attention. shortly after landing again the driver who came out advised that Governors was 7 miles away over there. No doubt the pax (all German) have told that story a few times. Another error I made was that the schedule called for a game drive at Amboseli on day 1 and a stop at Kilaguni on day 2 on the way back to Mombasa. Morning flights were generally made at 8000' but afternoon flights were generally (very naughty) at 13k or above so long as none of the pax were going blue. This offered some relief from the temperature but did nothing to reduce the turbulence.
Due to the fact that I will be away from the internet for a couple of days and not wishing to keep you guys waiting I trust it is in order to declare
Open House
The answer by the way was Kichwa Tembo in the Masai Mara

Well Warmtoast,
This challenge has not exactly got off to a warm start has it ? The Toast seems to have gone cold. Can I start to warm it up with a suggestion that it might be east coast USA, New England ??
Tack.
