Isn't this the Key brothers' Curtis Robin in which they set an endurance record of 653 hours in 1935. The plane is in the Smithsonian. I recall a catwalk to service the engine oil.

Aviation Firsts - Mississippi

OPEN HOUSE if I am correct - off to the dentist.

Sorry mate but no.

Remarkably similar story but different brothers and not a Curtiss Robin. Good luck with the dentist!

Slightly bigger picture...

Wiki says yes.

Does Chicago mean anything?
To the people in Chicago? Yes.

Yes, "Chicago" was one word emblazoned of the fuselage...

The R.6 doesn't look like that.

My source gives it as the R.3.

Good enough mate, it's all yours.

Evening one11,

A bit of a long-shot, but is it the Rocheville Variable Camber monoplane of 1923?

I can't find any pictures yet, but to quote Aerofiles it was an "Attractive variable-camber design with a Fokker D.7 top wing by then-Machinist Mate 1c Rocheville while stationed at San Diego"

Thanks,

I thought it must be vc, they don't seem too easy to root-out though!

I spent too much time trying to find a photo of the Rocheville instead of pushing on with the search

How about the Breda monoplane fitted with Ugo Antoni's variable camber wing 1933?

Feeling more confident about that having found this article with very interesting details of the wing's construction by Gloster aircraft

fairey aviation | 1933 | 0712 | Flight Archive

I have to go now, so Open House please if it is confirmed correct by one11

Yes , a Breda 15 fitted with a VC wing designed by Ugo Antoni in a joint project with Gloster Aircraft 1933. Unfortunately its life was short - first flight Oct , destroyed in a crash due to flutter, December.

SincoTC has declared open house
