Apologies,Gentlemen. I should have provided a clue before this juncture.
SincoTC,it is an American built aircraft, and a parasol type.

It is a civilian aircraft,Noyade, but not the S-300.
Apologies for the general quality of the photograph, but it is easily "Googled".

Abject apologies,Gentlemen. The aircraft in question is a bi-plane.
The aircraft company responsible for it's design and manufacture came into being in 1919,and it was a very advanced concept for it's time.
Apologies once again, for the duff information.

A very fast aircraft? Say, 1920?

Not a fast aircraft,Noyade. The company closed in 1921,having spent $30,000 in developing and building the prototype. The company was reborn under a new name in 1926, and was to become a very famous name in aviation, initially producing a successful high-speed civilian monoplane, using the advanced methods of construction first used in this aircraft.

Thanks for the new information sabredog

I reckon, that it has to be the Loughead S-1 Sport Biplane, with its folding wings and moulded plywood fuselage, its manufacturer, was of course the progenitor of Lockheed Aircraft Co

Absolutely correct,Bri, but SincoTC just pipped you at the post by three minutes. The Vega was the high speed monoplane produced later.
Well done, and I again apologise for the earlier duff gen.
That is what happens when amateurs participate!

Quite a good looking machine for it's day.

Now,back to the Aviaquiz for it's latest challenge!
YHC SincoTC.
