Graeme your stab was good but not close enough.
Sycamore. As far as I know there was no "French Connection" but I could be wrong.

it seems to be parked behind a twin-tailed aircraft..?
Based on what Sycamore observed, is this a production line? The one in front is the same as the cockpit challenge...if you get my drift.

I do not think that it was a production line as only a very limited number of these aircraft were built. Sorry, I do not know if the aircraft parked in front was a sister aircraft, however looking at the rudder hinge she could well have been.

The control yokes have a Dornier look about them, Mel. A Dornier 19 perhaps?

No sycamore, very definitely a "real" cockpit. The angle perhaps is a little sneaky, I will reveal more if no one gets it in a few hours.
