Some shots from the RNZAF Air Combat Wing disbandment on 13th December 2001 at Ohakea. Very cloudy and dark that day, not so good for photography.

I operated several flights in Novemeber of 2003, BZZ - BSR - AKT - BZZ and MME
I'll dig out some similar photos if you are interested?

[quote=Moose47][quote=Gainesy]A very weary looking old lady
Anybody know the story behind the non-standard fin marking (different flag)?
And anybody know the Canadian designation/name for this?
Hi
The Lancaster is from No. 404 'Buffalo' (MR) Squadron based at R.C.A.F. Station Greenwood, Nova Scotia.
The Neptune has the Canadian Red Ensign on its vertical stab. It replaced the standard R.A.F. tri-colour fin flash 1957.
The R.C.A.F. Grumman Albatross was designated CSR 111.
Cheers...Chris

IIRC this outfit with the swordfish/marlin badge was based at Greenwood, do not know where the Neptune and Canso seen below were from as there is nothing on the prints to indicate this, ditto the Lanc line up, but possibly Greenwood. As for that clattery Piasecki thing...
Will scan some more later. Good fun this innit?

Clint, thanks. On my holidays from school in Dorset, I spent a huge amount of time in the confines of HMS Gannet where my father was serving (middle 50s before the IRA started again) especially with ATC. When offered flights in the Avenger and Dragonfly helo (I know that would never happen these days) I readily accepted.
I am not a journo but just someone who was lucky enough to have a pretty free rein around a RNAS. Also with my father serving on HMS Ocean prior Korea and visits to HMAS Albatross (I think) in Nowra Oz wher he also served, gave me a fascination with all things flying. I have albums of Grumman Avengers, Gannets and Mk5 Firelfy but no Mk 9.
Not a matter of life or death but just an small obsession!
