Nice pics, thank you muchly.
But please try to remember that the ideal size for posting is 640 x 480 so that the pics do not expand the page.
Otherwise great!

Sharpshot,
Long Beach is a Long Way from the Air Nostalgia DC-3 parked on the ramp at Essendon Airport, Melbourne: outside my office window
YWIW,
The Ark photos (IIRC) were compiled to go in the 1974 Ark book, at the end of the commission. Some taken from the Ship's Flight Wessex HAS1, others from our Sea Kings. Lots more pics on my web site, but I guess I can't post a link or it might breach "advertising"? Follow the www link for my ID, look in the Gallery section.

Gainsey,
The tubes on the wingtips of the CF-100 are three tube rocket launchers. They were temporarily fitted when the crews went to Cold Lake to WPU (weapons practice unit). The normal armament was wingtip pods with 29 2.75" FFAR (folding fin aerial rockets, unguided) on each wingtip. Firing full pods was too expensive for training and radar calibration so the three tube launchers were developed. The targets were a RADOP ( looks like aTallboy bomb towed by the nose) towed behind brave lads in T-33s. You closed in on the targets from a 110 degree crossing angle and the whole 58 rockets were supposed to be launched by the fire control system in one great burst. Sort of a shotgun approach. I imagine the theory seemed good at the time but I often wonder just how effective it would have been.

Henry,
Some of them, the stream landing was on return to Eagle from Sembawang (?), when we had a flypast for STRONGBOW. We seem to have done a lot of flypasts, I have Hong Kong, Cubi Point, Wellington, et al in the logbook for that time
We got back to UK on 24th Jan 1972, disembarked to Culdrose. Photos of formation flights with underslung chacon loads available......

John Eacott,
That's the real problem taking photos of planes - the darned things have this capability of moving around
Well it was a great looking bird when I saw it outside your office window - sorry to impose. At least the 717 was in view of mine.
I look forward to Avalon '05..........guess I better not post any pics from Avalon '03 in case you have two offices in Vic

Well John Eacott - hopefully by morning your time there maybe a few photos on here. April showers are spoliling my evening up here, so I am in front of the PC again
If I get the photos on, you will recognise most.
Ex RSAF Hunter that came from QLD after a brief engine run after rebuild - made my day.
A nice tribute to the Space Shuttle crew although I don't think many noticed.
An F-15 flown by Boeing TP
F-18.....spoke with him later - a pair went to do some touch & go's in Tassie...........must have woken the whole state
Judy Pay's Trojan - at Tyabb
The narrowest metal surface I ever landed on in an X-wind,looks more like a road:
A Drover
The Connie from the 707 cockpit

SS,
Third shot down looks like Portsea back beach? Home of the disappearance of Harold E. Holt, the rifle range is the clear area through the tea tree scrub.
Judy's Trojan is always a delight, although the view of Tyabb runway is a bit daunting. Glad we just lift into the hover, none of this running up & down runways to get airborne

JE,
Thanks for the info on Portsea - I wondered what the clearing was - I tried to imagine who or what might land there - glad to hear that was not the intention!
Tyabb, strewth - you have to concentrate on t/o let alone landing
Last time I was over, went into Wallan. Taxied up the parallel taxi strip only to perceive a ditch separating me from the runway..the departure was interesting and my pax weren't too sure whether it was going to be a L or R arrival on the way back in.
I revalidated my Aus PPL for $50, but I gather this lifetime piece of paper is going to be invalid due introduction of criminal record checks? So much for flying myself into Avalon next year - BIG drat!
I note something about the Pt. Cook Walrus on the "Shagbat" thread..........I just happen to have a pic of that too. Pt. Cook is amazing when you walk in and see the yellow glow!
Would I correctly assume you fly a Tiger? Remember seeing two parked at Essendon last November with markings reminiscent of Redhill UK. Next planned visit is March '05.
I wish someone could show me how to post a string of photos in one hit.........one at a time is a bit laborious!! I can't fathom out this "create album" in photobucket, but presume this is the means to the end I am looking for??

Nice one.
CP.
Do you remember the 350 B/W pics I have from the early '60s.
Well I have now put them all onto a CD. You said you would like a copy. Let me know your address and I'll pop a copy in the post.
Clint.
