A Dedicated Home For The Brilliant Pictures On Ah&n
In the first instance just start a thread as normal. Add the pictures and we will mod the thread as it gets a bit older.

Excellent idea CamelPilot. 
Before the expert snappers get going, here are a few pics to help start the ball rolling.
WK518, a very special Chipmunk.
Special to me anyway - I did my first solo in it in 1971.
WK518 is now with the BBMF, and is one of the last two Chipmunks in RAF service. They are used primarily for the conversion/continuation training of BBMF pilots on tail-wheel aircraft – pilots new to the Flight commonly arrive with no previous tail-dragger experience.
It was delivered to the RAF in January 1952 and started its service life at Cranwell. It subsequently served with the University of London Air Squadron at RAF White Waltham, some other minor UAS units, the Cottesmore Station Flight and No 1 AEF at Manston before going to the BBMF in 1983. It didn't have this new-fangled high-conspicuity black paint scheme in my day, of course.

FT391 was my pride and joy between 1986-1990 when Mark Hanna and I owned it. It was built by Noorduyn Aviation (Canada) and delivered to the RAF in 1942. After service as an advanced trainer for pilots converting to fighters, it was subsequently sold to the Dutch Air Force some time after the war, and then into civilian ownership in Holland.
My net search also came up with this old postcard of FT391. Civvy reg is G-AZBN but doesn't have to be displayed. I don’t know where or when the photograph was taken, other than it was post 1971.

With Ray Hanna joining as third owner, we replaced the T-6 with a Yak. The Yak-3, produced from 1943 to 1946, was one of the fastest fighters of World War II. The prototype reached 462 mph (745 km/h), the highest speed ever attained by a Soviet piston engine aircraft and close to the pre-jet era limit. First seeing action during the Battle at Kursk in July 1943, the Yak 3 was the first Soviet fighter to achieve parity or exceed the performance of Luftwaffe fighters. This performance was so marked that Luftwaffe fighter units were specifically forbidden from dog-fighting below 16,000 ft with Yak 3s. In later versions, the 20mm cannon firing through the propeller shaft was replaced with a 37mm variant, and the two 12.7mm machine guns were replaced by two 20mm cannon.
Ours was built in 1946, rebuilt in the mid-90’s at the original Yak factory in Russia, and reassembled at Duxford by the Yakolev engineers responsible for the rebuild. It's been a bigger project than we thought and hasn’t yet flown. Perhaps this season, or next?
(Note:The Yak in the photo is owned by the Fighter Collection. Both were rebuilt at the same time. I don't have a pic of ours that I can post, but they are identical.)

All these years we've been friends without knowing we shared such an important part of our country's military heritage.

excellent pic of the YAK 3, I have very good memories of Mark Hanna flying the Alpine Fighter Collection's Yak at Wanaka in New Zealand. I remember flying in on the practice day and watching an incredible low level display, none of us were to surprised when Mark Hanna climbed out of the Yak !

We've gone the opposite way - using the basic structure of the Yak 11 to build a Yak 3.

(1) Persuade a friend to host the photo for you.
Send the photo as an attachment to an e-mail and, when it's hosted, include the 'url' in your post.
Note: If it's a business website, the pic should be hosted on a spare page which doesn't advertise products for sale or have a link to the main site. Pprune understandably doesn't allow free advertising.
It shouldn't be a problem. Some of the best photographs in the Rotorheads gallery are posted by a professional aviation photographer who doesn't promote his business, or even mention his name, when he posts his pictures on Pprune.
(2) Use one of the free photo hosting services on the net.
Make sure they allow direct linking to photographs. Some don't so you have to click a link each time which is a bore.
'Geocities' is unreliable - the links often don't work.
I've opened an account (free) with 1 ASP Host to see if it's of any use to people wishing to post pics here.

The instructions for uploading photographs were easy to follow
- less than 10 minutes from registering to hosting two pics.
I've posted two pics below as an experiment.
If they don't disappear in a few days - we're up and running.
Having now tried both, I've found www.photobucket.com is more reliable.

22 Hunters in a formation loop (1957)
The formation was led by Squadron Leader Roger Topp, then OC 111 Squadron.
By lucky coincidence, I found myself sitting next to him on a flight to Antigua recently. Now 81 years old, he had a wonderful career, including leading the Black Arrows and, as a test pilot, worked on many aircraft up to the Tornado.
One of Roger's students at ETPS went on to become a distinguished test pilot himself - none other than our own John Farley.
Roger enjoyed reminiscing - but probably not half as much as I enjoyed listening. Our respective ladies were very patient - no doubt very relieved to discover we weren't staying at the same hotel!
(As an aside ..... who should be the Captain on the return flight but an old friend from my Tiger Club days who'll be known to many people here, Tim Barnby. Thanks to the daft new rule, I couldn't visit the cockpit but Tim came down the back for a chat.)

Easy to follow instructions - picture uploaded in a few minutes.

I tried 1 ASP Host first but noticed that in their terms and conditions they say photo only sites are not welcome.
Tried to register with photobucket but have not yet received an email confirming my registration.

'Terms and conditions' are things which lawyers advise other people they should always read.
I've now looked at the T's & C's - they're curiously phrased for an online photo hosting service. I think all the owners of ASP mean is they don't want people using their service as free on-line storage of junk generated by digital cameras - family album stuff, pics not worth printing etc - and reserve the right to delete photos not of general interest.
The friend who recommended ASP tells me he's never had anything deleted.
Nothing to lose by trying - it's free, and the worst they can do is delete.
The Photobucket site had problems earlier today - I could access the main page, but not log in to the album I created. It seems to be operating properly now.
