If anyone has been through the E3 process lately what's the approximate waiting time to get your passport back from the US consulate?
A web search says anything from 10 days to 6 months...

6 months? Never heard longer than 2 weeks. Now booking an appointment that may be a 6 month wait in some places.
Did my most recent interview in April and it was 3 days to get the passport back.
there’s a backlog of local FO candidates waiting for start dates.
Aussie E3’s can’t be part 121 captains essentially without 1000 hours of FAA part 121 time

I don't think the boat has sailed on new E3's yet, but it's definitely starting to feel that way.
E3
I’m considering applying but see nothing on their website about E3 and wondering if anybod6 else has gone through recently or knows of anybody else on the outside who just got in and is presently not actually flying for a US carrier.
Yes I have an FAA ATP and 4000 hours part 121, multiple heavy jet type ratings including the A320 and over 7000 hours total time.

So, for those of us trying to stay up with what's happening with the E3 thing, most of the recent E3 job successes involve those already in the US with a Part 121 carrier who are just changing jobs ?
Does anyone have any recent knowledge of 1500 hour Aussies with no FAA tickets coming in on an E3 and finding a job here where all training is provided and paid ?
I'd assume this route has slowed down considerably due to the Capt/FO imbalance at the regional level. These carriers seem to be focusing on the DEC candidates. But I just don't have any info on this.

E3
With regards to me not being in the US at present, does that matter even though I have an FAA ATP and 4000 part 121 time?
Just wondering if they are only looking at people already in the US and if that matters for some reason.
Thanks.
I was just changing jobs already on an E3 visa. But I can’t imagine that would make any difference if you were residing in the US or not as you’d have to leave the country to attain the E3 anyway.
Skywest is still interviewing for FO’s on E3’s, have two friends interviewing within the next month.
Most of the movement I’ve seen at Spirit has been from regionals with most having around 100hrs 121 time and ATP in hand.
With an ATP and that amount of flight time I’d be putting an application in to Atlas/Spirit/Regionals if you’re looking to work in the states, you’d have a fairly good shot at it.

Are you actively in the US already on an E3 visa?

Or do you mean part 121 time from a different country?
Curious more than anything.
Does FAA part 135 time count at all?
Asking for a friend 🙃.

There is some mention of Part 135 time:
