Which 5 did you apply for out of interest?

I got knocked back for my first renewal at the Sydney consulate in 2019. They handed me a piece of paper saying I needed to provide proof of educational equivalency to a bachelor degree. After that my visa went to administrative processing. A couple of us have had issues at the Sydney consulate in particular. The officer said "Your company needs to stop sending applicants without this document".

I got the educational equivalency done by one of the approved mobs and emailed it off. Got my visa back two weeks later. It's not a scam, it is occasionally nessesary. I would do anything I can to avoid consulates with known issues though. Never heard of any similar problems at Perth or Melbourne.
bront I probably should have expanded on my experience, particularly with freshy1234's experience popping up. I've done a couple of E3's, different companies each time. Both mine have gone through the Melbourne consulate. Melbourne consulate staff are very laid back, asked me a few questions about the company, I didn't have a degree, this wasn't mentioned but he did ask me about my experience. Word on the street at the time was to stay away from the Sydney consulate due to what freshy said. No one I knew had any issues with Melbourne but I hadn't heard of actual experiences in Sydney until freshy's.

My Melbourne experience, 2017.

"Why do you want an E3?"

"I got a job offer and have the qualifications required, would you like to see?"

"Your visa is approved, NEXT!"

Just out of curiosity... how long ago was that and what's your total time?

I applied to all of the ones you mentioned and only Breeze responded.

Pretty sad reflection on aviation in this country, you've got more interviews lined up if you want them than most pilots in Australia will see over their entire career.

It’s a good thing that the demand that was around before the spicy cough is returning (and just at a guess may be more pronounced)

It will/is happening in Aus as well

It’s up to all of us to fight for and demand better pay and conditions the world over - not just chase a seat.👍🏽

It's definitely a requirement, it's what the visa is about after all. I spoke with an immigration lawyer in the States and it was a requirement but obviously certain Embassies don't ask the question, Cape Town, South Africa being where I went and wasn't asked.

AFAP has disallowed any mention of jobs in the USA / E3 on their website. Hopefully the whole thing is common knowledge enough now that we don't need them anyway. Spirit is now confirmed to be hiring fresh E3s and will fund the CTP. It's a great way to skip the regionals and get right into the bus.

If you're struggling in Australia to get anywhere, the opportunities in the USA are some of the best ever. A job with Spirit is better than a job at QF.

I do agree that Australia will see an explosion of hiring and already is. But there is only so many aptitude tests one can do.

It also doesn’t help when the other premier carrier has a list as long as Santa’s of pilots they need to recall first.

also I think this thread name needs to change to Australian pilots can work for American regionals, LCCs, and ACMIs…

Hi Lads,

Long time listener, thanks for all the info over the last 2 years, what a sh*t show it has been here. For those playing from home with significant NB Jet experience, been in Aus working for the length of my career and about to make the move.
Atlas and Spirit now taking initial E3 candidates who previously have not worked or held an E3 including many of my colleagues from my former fallen airline. I have the interview next week.

Atlas would require a self funded FAA conversion, Spirit will not (looks as though this will kick off in the next month).

Good news for all, agree more so with the comments above, the water is warm. Jump in.

It's definitely a requirement
I think it's been established that it's not a requirement. That one consulate is enforcing a literal interpretation.

I spoke with an immigration lawyer in the States
Overthinking it.

Cape Town, Hong Kong, Singapore, Melbourne, Perth are on the list of friendly issuers.

Sydney, Nandi, non-friendly.

Didn't realise that this inbox fills up with 1 message... all clear now.

Some insights would be helpful...

I have not heard the rumor that they are ramping up to take fresh E3s, but it wouldn't surprise me. Things are getting shaken up here that have many looking to jump ship, who maybe 4 weeks ago saw themselves staying at Spirit for life, myself included. Spirit has many new aircraft coming this year, as well as continually announcing new destinations, so they need to keep the growth going.

You'll make more money at Spirit than at a regional and you'll get 320 time. Every airline has its issues, and Spirit has many, but I'd for sure be gunning for an LCC over a regional if you have the opportunity.
what has happened in the last 4 weeks to make everyone want to leave? The merger?
