Could someone please tell me, why was the 3 month delay to the flying plan in place.
As far as I can see the only significant changes to the delayed flying plan was:
1. Jetstar pulling out of Perth - Lombok
2. Jetstar pulling out of Brisbane - Perth
So why the 3 month long awaited delay to the flying plan from networks?
There's been no change to anything previously advised within Qantas mainline. The 767's and the 744's are still retiring.
So can someone shed any light on why such as significant delay to the mainline flying plan when nothings actually changed?
All I can see is that any crew training or redundancies will be pushed into the next financial year.
MC.

FBN,

The reason there are so many pilots per per aircraft is for one reason and one reason only - a surplus created by Qantas Management. Prior to the introduction of Jetstar, the number of pilots per airframe was in accordance with other airlines. The growth occurred in other group airlines, the surplus was kept and ever-increasing, until it reached the stage it has now where redundancies are about to take place, and management's real agenda for the L/H pilot body is about to be shown. It is frightening, and I feel for every pilot about to be affected by QF's industrial agenda.
International is losing money as part of a deliberate game plan by Management and the Board. You either know this and ignore it to play your petty, spiteful and childlike games on here, or are simply uneducated.
There are no routes the 330 goes on that justify taking a SO....
I think you have 1350 pilots for your wide body fleets. Taking away the 767 numbers , you have 1200 for a fleet of 47 aircraft really quite an unbelievably over crew considering in this 47 you have 11 330s that fly only domestic.
So lets assume the domestic 330s are crewed to the same ratio of domestic 767s
Now that leaves about 1075 crew for the 36 WB aircraft you actually have that go overseas - so 30 pilots per aircraft.
Wow no wonder your international division loses money.

And what QF management wasn't planning on was to have the QF short haul pilots embroiled with the Longhaul RIN.
Some posters may recall I put a post up a couple of weeks ago about the ability of LH pilots to displace across hauls in the impending RIN.
Only this week has AIPA disclosed this possibility. Although taking a "neatral stance". The AIPA president does hold a view on the transfer of pilots under the RIN.
Perhaps someone with access to crew room should ask WK his opinion?
Wasn't it WK as deputy CP who once wrote that SH pilots are actually long haul pilots on secondment to domestic operations.
If this is the case and they are entitled to bid back to Longhaul per their seniority, then they aren't as isolated from the RIN as some would wish.

Perhaps the journalist responsible for the article below has had the misfortune of reading some of the vicious misinformed bile and schoolyard taunts the ever charming flyboat north and others of his/her ilk have been vomiting onto this forum in recent times.

....and so the bloodbath that Oldmeadow and associates have orchestrated begins. Qantas LH pilot vs qantas SH pilot on the issue of RIN/redundancy.
Implosion of AIPA next and then every pilot for himself.
Wake up and feel the puppet strings being jigged!!!

So Ramwhatever
You said
"International is losing money as part of a deliberate game plan by Management and the Board"
You actually believe this do you, a secret conspiracy has been hatched by the QF senior management & the board so that QF international will lose money........ & that the motivation behind this is so they can get at the QF pilots ???
Well for one thing it would be highly illegal, & really shows a schoolboy intellect & delusions of grandeur.
But you actually believe this ????
Pretty much all the Sing/Aust routes (melb, syd , bris) an SO is carried , nobody else does, same goes for the A330 run to Manilla, really all the 747/330/380 runs to Asia - they all take a Second Officer , the other airlines fly them all two pilot
Anyone surprised they aren't making a buck ?

Anecdotally if Qantas pilot's took a 50% pay cut Qantas would still be losing money and headed for extinction. Seems to indicate that the bigger problem lies a little bit North of the average line pilot's pay grade.
World's best, overpaid aviation management perhaps?
Crap strategic plan?
Incompetence of the highest order perhaps?
Oh, shucks ...no real plan at all, not AJ's fault though....blames everyone and everything else!! Bet he'd take the credit IF there was a massive profit though!!!

No, the motivation behind it isn't to get QF pilots. It is to attack all awards associated with QF International/Domestic.
I don't lurk behind delusions of keyboard grandeur like yourself. I find you entertaining. You make a statement that there are no 330 routes that require a Second Officer. I prove to you otherwise - like others have done with all of your drivel. But you keep coming back espousing your ignorance.
My opinion of you differs to the others on this board. I think you are a perfectly well balanced individual - chips on both shoulders.

Well why was I in Singapore recently and saw a three pilot crew, including second officer taking a 744 back to Brisbane (they had time on their hands so were doing much posing and few laps of the concourse doing the "qantas strut")
As a matter of routine your A330s take SOs to Manilla, on all your routes to SEA you are carrying SOs when other airlines don't.
Jack your feet stink and nobody likes you because you are a "hanger-on"

Balls deep.
QF were making billion dollar profits with crusty old crew before the likes of AJ & JQ appeared on the scene.
FBN
I recently saw a Chinese carrier exit AUS with 2 Captains & 2 FO's.
So your point about QF carrying an SO is what?
