All the people on this threat don't know S*** about Tiger OZ......what's the point of posting here then?
If everybody on PPRUNE only posted about the companies they worked for, 1/2 of PPRUNE would'nt be here and the other 1/2 would be posting about 75% less. Professional Pilots RUMOUR Network, get the picture ?
Conveniently forgetting that to write up defects in the maintenance release, will, with some charter companies, cause you to lose your job
Tiger Oz
Hongkongfooey you've forgot to mention that some people could not get into TIGER and are probably p***** off now.
If the conditions are public knowledge why apply in the first place????? or even waste your time talking about it???? move on!
I was just trying to find out the FACTS about Tiger, I guess I am on the wrong forum since you guys are only speculating about stuff that you heard second hand from "friends".......

Ok I will bite.................since u suggested that TT crew dont wright up defects at times. Firstly you are so very very WRONG, Yes a defect with minimal coverage means AOG. But let me tell u I have never seen a defect NOT written up ever .............PERIOD...........in my experience as a TT crewmember. For anyone to state that an airline contravenes the Orders & Regs when it is not the case.....................well we all know where that can end up
I would suggest as friendly advice to ensure you know facts before posting anything. As soaring said TT crew dont bother posting here

Nice is what you like Icarus.
Don't believe the stories bandied around about a million overnights a week. Big companies bidding systems and the list of perks goes on and on and on and on.
PM me if you want any detailed info.

further update Thai Tiger
Bangkok Post : KTB rebuffs THAI offer for Nok
It makes no sense for Thai to pursue a partnership with Tiger Singapore any further. The word is, Tiger has such a poor image already in Thailand and SE Asia it would damage the Thai brand. It is believed that Thai will buy a bigger slice of NOK once it can work out a deal with Thailand's Krung Thai Bank.
Still believe J* would do well if it setup more services in Thailand rather than Singapore...
It improved its offer in the face of lingering difficulties, largely opposition from the Transport Ministry to its proposed launch of a new low-cost carrier in partnership with Singapore's Tiger Airways.
Industry observers say the chance of Thai Tiger Airways, 51% owned by THAI and other Thai entities and 49% by Tiger, getting off the ground is very slim as THAI has been unable to meet the growing list of conditions demanded by the ministry.

The months ahead will be pivotal for Tiger and potentially a litmus test for the viability of the LCC in Oz.
Consider one view of the current state of play:
Not a pretty picture.
Consider one view of the current state of play:
- Tiger constantly trying to appease an unhappy CASA
- A seriously unhappy workforce
- A failing EBA for pilots and a non existent EBA for cabin crew
- Inevitable industrial action
- Questions over engineering capability
- Aircraft flying around with up to 3 books of defects
- Reports of engineering breaches
- No engineering support for fleet during daylight hours except in MEL
- A newly acquired British management team with questionable ability and little workforce respect
- A new commercial director (Brit on visa) who hasn't shown up for work for over a month and has recently had his visa pulled
- The lowest on time performance of any Australian carrier-ever
- No safety department for 6 months
- Increasing numbers of pilots moving on to other pastures
- A new Qld base now on hold
- New aircraft for March no longer arriving
- A CEO apparently prepared to put ego ahead of sustainable business practice
- Operations being hamstrung at dealing with the increasing numbers of latent failures
- A ground handling agent unable to provide the required product due cost pressures
- Pilots self funding training
- Lowest industry pay rates
- Lowest industry terms and conditions
Not a pretty picture.
scorcher No upstart LCC carrier has ever survived long term in Australia and to date TT has only survived on the back of Singapore money. Supposed stories of TT making profits is largely a smoke screen.
Its not possible to operate a pure Y class airline and make money unless it has a significant back bone and feeder traffic. Even Virgin Blue (who would never have survived if it wasn't for the AN collpase) are now seeing they need a true 2 class operation. Discount tickets alone just dont pay the high operating costs in the Australian market - high costs/long distances/low population.
Jetstar has made it after being hand delivered many QF key routes, QF corporate support and hand feeding of pax
Tigers agressive corporate culture just doesn't work in Australia... I dont want to see any Aussies out of a job.... but the Tiger's days are numbered

The entire group is up **** creek. Singapore is still recovering from the mass exodus, Thai Tiger is not going anywhere, deferrals on the cards. Avalon has bombed, another bad decision, no money in Avv and neither Adl, compete waste of resources. Now is not the time for a new Tiger subsidiary, perhaps in 2 or 3 years when the company can get on its feet sustainably. If they started hiring some folks with brains, they might get somewhere then, but all of Tony's friends are moving from one sinking ship to another.
The only thing going for the group is as a whole, they are not losing money. But apart from that everything else is stuffed.
At least Shelley had her standards

Sadly I have to agree with 1a sound asleep.
Unless the parent injects massive resources (in addition to what has already been lost) into TT, they are headed for oblivion. Even if SG bites the bullet and goes for broke, it's still a very tricky proposition. Heralded additional aircraft have yet to arrive, hmmm?
The last thing we need is to see good people out of work, but I think it might be time to re-dust off the CV's boys and girls.

Whispering "T" Jet
Tiger are no more annoying to the QF group than Virgin, Qatar,Etihad,Air NZ,Emirates and any other competitor. The thing I don't get is why SQ continue to pump money into this basket case.
As for seriously deep pockets - yes, but traditionally SQ will not throw good money after bad. Maybe someone has photographs.

The last time SQ pumped money into Tiger was in 2003, get your facts straight!
Its not like Tiger AU are losing 50m a year anymore, we are talking a couple of million a year at worst. The losing money hurdle has past, 100 other operational problems has since risen.
