The 'show cause' was issued on march 23, expiring within 21 days. So this concerns in the notice has been dealt with as the airline is still airborne!

no discussion...... end of story

and funnily enough its Easter time..... media hype up.....

this has nothing to do with how good or bad that airline has been doing things.... could it be a little rouse for the redstar as they have been in the spotlight alot lately?

You are seriously deluded Kitty, I am pretty sure with all QF and Jokestars problems they have not been given a show cause on pilot trg and maintenance.

Kittyblue... Virgin Blue loves Tiger! I regularly sell thousands of dollars worth of last minute fairs when they cancel their flights!
As I stated on the "other" Tiger thread just before... today for the first time I helped someone cancel a Virgin Blue fair as they refused to get on a Tiger flight thus no longer requiring a return flight claiming they weren't safe! I did try to reassure the gentleman but he was adamant... Not good for business.

Kitty is right!!!!
There is nothing to worry about when an Australian RPT operator gets the first Show Cause in 10 years....I mean look what happened the last time an RPT airline got one.....
How is that application going for Airline PR Kitty?

On a more positive note, the 11th aircraft arrived into Melbourne today from Toulouse.
Has been registered FJR and named 'Jack Ryan' after Declan Ryan's son

Ansett was never issued a "show cause". They had one waved in their faces but managed to smooth things over at the eleventh hour.
This is the first "Show cause" to an airline in much longer than ten years.
"safe skies for all" CASA. Make our skies safe again please!!!

Thats strange. Didn't Sunstar state CASA would" not be letting any more frames into the country"?

latest news is that VH-FJR is now in SIN, and 3 Avalon routes are pulled as of next week to OOL/BNE/ADL, sending that spare bus to ML.

It can't be a good time for Tiger at the minute. I believe they are also renegotiating their engineering support contract going forward as well. I don't know what their options would be given the current scrutiny they are under.
May be it's time for them to pack up and try again somewhere else. Which is at all possible with the recent LCC announcement from Singapore.

Well, they seem to be keeping JHAS in MEL pretty busy atm. Too busy to finish assigned tasks on Jetstar aircraft that are towed back on to the gate with weeklys not done ane plenty of items left open.

I think tiger will find it tough from here on especially if J* can lower their crew cost by way of this new group contract thingy they are on about. They have failed to establish respect for their brand as well. Strictly a LCC in the purest of forms and their passenger base may dwindle if further interest rate rises eventuate or of things tighten up further with the economy.

Not sure where they go from here.

Soup Nazi. From what I have read about Tiger they believe their prospects will be enhanced when interest rates increase and the economy heads further south.

Yeah in theory thats right in fact I always said when times get tough thats when tiger will benefit. The only thing that may "put a spanner in the works" is, will the increased cost of living erode their client base, or will it expand it? The fact that they have been unable to expand when times are good tells me their client base may already be at 100%. Add to this J* reducing their crewing costs even further I'm not not sure where tiger go next.

It will be interesting for sure.

Looks like the Avalon venture has hit the wall, cutting back to 2 movements daily and 1 movement on a Saturday as of this weekend.

Aparrently two other aus airlines have a show cause at the moment, and the j* pool are saying no to the job because it is degrading conditions in aus. People who work in safeway make more than that with no investment. At least tiger pay the pilots.<not the best but buy far not the worst>
