And another thing. The incentive pay that the FEDERATION negotiated is preventing redundancies in this downturn. The incentive pay system works for the company as well as the pilots. If the flying increases the pilots will work harder (to certain limits), get paid more and the company does not have to hire any more pilots to cover this increase in workload. IE there is great flexibility in the system. Conversely when the flying decreases, the company pays out less in salary to the pilots but the pilots remain employed. There are no redundancies (to certain limits).
You see that great things can be achieved when you look for win/win situations and don't treat the company as the bad guy but work with them to achieve benefits for both parties. Pretty radical EH!!
And to threecombs I would say this. You say that you and your colleagues with similar beliefs will be nice to someone's face and yet be nasty behind their back. This says so much about you. You do not have the courage of your convictions to voice your opinions to others regardless of their beliefs IE enter into reasonable debate. Therefore your statements can't be trusted as they might be lies. You have, by your own admission, no integrity.

BillyT and Balding Eagle.
Tell me something, Did the Federation get these terms for their Air Nelson pilots or was it AirNZ mainline?
Off the top of my head, incentive pay, IT allowance, Requalification day after leave (effectively another three days leave per year).

Not that I particularly endorse 3combs clearly heartfelt rant, however!! I found Balding Eagles smarmy, self rightous, arrogant comments most irksome!!!
Sheeesh, I bet the boys are thrilled when they see your name on the roster dude!

I for one think it's nice that ALPA actually supported it members instead of pocketing the money from membership dues and washing its hands when contract negotiations came about. The fact that it appears to have acknowledged it had members who flew turboprops is a huge step forward.
Pity ALPA can't return all the money it stole over the years..........

27/09 it was mainline.

I can see why some Air Nelson pilots feel agrieved when Federation pilots have benefited from their very drawn out and difficult negotiations. Negotiations that were made more difficult and drawn out due to the actions of those same Federation pilots.
The Air Nelson Federation members have been to the company and asked NOT to pick up the extra overnight payment. They have been told by the company that it is too hard for the company to do.
I was asking a direct question with a direct answer. It was the misinformed attack on the federation pilots that prompted me to comment on this thread. I am sure the slagging of them will continue. Odd, don't you think, that it is seldom the other way. I would expect that the ALPA leaders don't condone what some posters put on pprune.
This thread has drifted so I am bowing out. Well done though to the Air Nelson pilots, both Federation and ALPA for what they have achieved.

You have to be joking.
Billyt and Balding Eagle... what planet are you guys on? We're talking about the Air Nelson contract here, if you want to rant on and on about the Air NZ contract go open up another thread. The day I receive incentive pay at Air Nelson, I'll spoil myself and upsize my combo.
"The Air Nelson Federation members have been to the company and asked NOT to pick up the extra overnight payment. They have been told by the company that it is too hard for the company to do."
Do you HONESTLY believe that in this modern age, when companies manage to manipulate complex tax laws, pay groups of pilots on multiple contracts different salaries, calculate meal allowances daily and employ personal whose soul responsibility is to oversee payroll issues, that AIR NELSON in all its glory cannot pay one pilot $40 and another $50 for a meal allowance on an overnight? You're taking the piss. No go on, seriously, you're joking right?
"...go to John H and he will confirm this. FACT."
I'm here all week, try the chicken.
"You say that you and your colleagues with similar beliefs will be nice to someone's face and yet be nasty behind their back. This says so much about you."
You couldn't be further from the truth about this guy. ThreeCombs is a very honest individual who would like nothing better than to tell people what he thinks to their face. In fact, last time I saw him he had a dead Panda strapped to the front of a Hummer and was careering through the Sydney Mardi Gras. So don't be nasty, sit down and have a latte.
I have no problem with multiple unions, none at all. But I firmly believe that you sleep in the bed you made for yourself. The guys above ranting on about how the Feds are the 'misunderstood good guys' are truely the ones who have been misinformed. Stick to what you know guys, which is obviously what happens at mainline. Trust me, we at ALPA (the good buggars association as we are known at ATC) worked very very hard for our Air Nelson contract, you have NO idea. Yet, we are now expected to watch everything we worked for fall into the hands of those who did everything to stop it... and yes it IS happening, and the Feds here at Air Nelson are not putting up much of a fight to maintain what they had originally bargained for. So yes... it's a piss off, and you can expect people to be pissed off.

Would ALPA guys pay more than Feds for membership? Maybe the Feds are just cheap and don't wanna pay the higher fees? Could this be a possibility? If this is not the case, what advantages does the Federation offer its members other than the ability to keep the airline running and make a few extra bucks while the others strike?

If it is too hard to organise different meal allowances between staff JH then how come the flighties still only get $30 compared to the pilots $50???
Or if the Air Nelson Feds do not want the extra $10 that the ALPA pilots fought for during the industrial action then why don't they give it to their FA?

Some time ago I saw how little the Fed fees were. I wondered how they could provide anything more worthwhile to their members than a card at Christmas. Most social clubs cost more to belong to.

Good post M Baxter! I'm with you, I too wonder what planet Billy.T and the Balding DoDO are on. Perhaps this analogy will help them.
Imagine you've spent months and months negotiating on the western front, trying to avoid war. Eventually, with all avenues exhausted, the call is made for you to head for the front!
It's a filthy place, your covered in mud and it's always cold. There's no end in sight and you begin to despair! You dont know if you can hold on much longer but somehow you know you must go on! Conditions are unbearable.
Finally the call goes out, "the war is over" we've reached settlement!
You trudge back accross the lines, bloodied and bruised.
On the way you pass some barracks. In those barracks sit the conciencious objectors! They're nice and warm, smoking cigars, sipping brandy and have had a great old time during the war!
Then High Command announces that those same slugs, sitting in the barracks, will be receiving the same spoils that the war has just achieved!
The objectors celebrate with gusto!
And you wonder why we call you SC_BS!!!
Disclaimer: I realise comparing our struggles to those of veterans is rather offensive and at no time have I meant to underscore their heroic role in our history. I have travelled many times to the western front to pay my respects!
