Isn't that a clever recruitment team, they hold a recruitment day then announce closure of the flybe Base.

Not sure if was in advance however Flybe have dropped a bunch of routes from regional airports.

Leeds Bradford to Dusseldorf
Southampton to Dusseldorf
Manchester to Toulouse and Milan
Doncaster to Amsterdam and Belfast
East Midlands to Jersey, Edinburgh and Glasgow

I know some of these cancellations are due to EJet operations but some of the above are Q400 ops.

I wouldn't be surprised if these were all marginal routes so have got the chop.

MAN-TLS is a bit of a surprise as when I've used it, usually full (and not cheap) lots of Airbus folk use it too. If they can't make that route work then something must be wrong ?

Dusseldorf and Doncaster bases are closing, so that might be part of it. MAN-MXP and TLS was operated by E19/75. Might be a bit too long for the Q400?

Can you provide your source for the first one?

Flybe relevant comments from Virgin executive vice-president of operations Philip Meher talking to FlightGlobal earlier this week about their LHR expansion plans:

Regarding Virgin Atlantic's domestic and intra-European ambitions, Meher stays that "Flybe would be a key connector for us into Manchester and Heathrow", adding that the carrier would "use Flybe to expand our regional footprint into Europe and feed that traffic back into the UK".

Meher also says that the carrier is still working on its plan for how Connect Airways – through which Virgin Atlantic is co-owner of Flybe, Stobart Air and lessor Propius – will be marketed to passengers, noting that it is considering "how that brand would work in terms of the customer proposition... whether that's 'Virgin something' or another brand".

That is not true. Isle of Man, Doncaster and Cardiff are closing. Dusseldorf is remaining open, albeit it appears only one plane.

there seems there are lot of changes going on. how did Cardiff survive all the cuts? was a deal done? what happened to Doncaster, it seemed some routes were saved then lost? are there more rumoured changes ie increases anywhere? when do the jets actually go? are all the q400s staying?

Doncaster base is closing but will be served by a couple of flights on a W pattern. Bit crap really.

The last two routes (AMS & BHD) have been axed today also as of the end of October.

Flybe has abandoned DSA entirely.

Ball drops.

I've seen no promotion since they announced they were closing the base, and the q400 timings were crap. Back to Leeds and Manchester for me then.

Remember earlier cuts were probably executed by the old regime. The new one is now starting to look at things with a new broom.
