Jet2 PMI
Don't frequent the Jet2 thread that often so apologies if Mallorca news (from our local paper) is not news!

Well that is news. If accurate it comes as some surprise.

Something has just dawned upon me, after seeing this accidental mockup of a Jet2 737 900, Jet2 to lease Titan Airways's first A321 this summer - ch-aviation.com I wondered, why haven't they ordered any? It would seem like a good fit as a 757 replacement with 733 (glass cockpit) and 738 commonality.
|
Because they aren't retiring the 757 fleet for a good few years??

No idea what the 752 replacement would be when it comes to it, but for the time being it seems that the 738 is the way forward. Makes sense to have the one type I think, perhaps not so good for the lower density city routes but certainly a good fit for the bulk of their business these days.

The replacement of the 757 will always be a tricky one. Despite its age, nothing we have yet outperforms in terms of range in its class. Inevitably, when they do retire, the question is, will Jet2 even seek for a replacement for it? From what I can see, 30 -800 orders suggests that the future plan is to start standardising (and modernising) the fleet, which of course can reduce costs. The 737-800 suits the vast majority of Jet2's ops, albeit excluding the winter breaks to New York - which are just ad-hoc and not solid destinations.
However, should a decision come to replacing the 757s with something other than the 738, The viable options I see are go smaller; 739 or the a321, or go bigger; the 767. The argument for the 767 is that they're still in production, share a common TR with the 757, have a vast network of spares, and are able to cover the ad-hocs like EWR in the winter, whilst during the summer, could easily serve full-load factors of bucket and spades to the likes of PMI, ALC or TFS. Should they decide to expand this way, I'd imagine an order of around 2-4, to make up a small sub fleet on the side (most likely based out of MAN). When it comes down to the 739 vs the a321, in terms of performance they are very similar. Take a look here: http://planes.axlegeeks.com/compare/231-270/Airbus-A321-vs-Boeing-737-900ER Now we all know LS negotiated significant discounts off the list prices for their NG order. The fact the 739, at list price is $28,700,000 cheaper than the airbus, suggests to me that the 739 is more likely, and given the substantial order with Boeing already, the company is a lot more likely to obtain significant discounts off the list price, than it would be with Airbus. Going this way would also maintain fleet commonality, which is of course very important in terms of keeping costs low. Personally, I think that they'll just expand, standardising the fleet with the -800. I am certainly not ruling out the possibility of the a321, but think rather that the 739 is more likely. The 767, not so likely, but I think it would be a perfect fit into the LS ops, opening the possibility of more far flung Jet2holidays destinations in the future. :ok: |
Wonder if Jet2 might now be forced into either axing or improving its schedules to better suite business passenger needs on it's marginal year round operated city routes from LBA to AMS, CDG and DUS now it has some serious competition down road at DSA on all 3 routes by flybe?

The winter should be kept at 2 flights per month. Anything else is crazy talk and should attract overtime Payments.

Why not 737(7)-738-739 and 767? Common short/medium haul backbone to cover everything from lower end like NCL-KRK, LBA-DUS etc. with the -700's, top end UK-Balearics, Canaries, Spain with the -900's and everything else inbetween and alongside with the -800's.
The 767's could cover everything from summer PMI/ALC/TFS shuttles, EWR charters and long haul jet2holidays |
Does anyone know what metal is penciled in for the april 18th LS251 LBA-FAO?
And apoligies to any other passenger onboard that day, Im 1/24th of a stag do. |
At present it looks like a B737-300.

If he behaves then he will not have to apologise.
Do not behave and you will get no appologie if you are refused travel. |
why have ncl/tfs and lpa stopped at FAO. fuel stop or what
|
Probably, jet stream is very strong from the south today.
Jetstream Forecast - Jetstream Map Updated Four Times Daily - Netweather.tv Got to feel for the crew, will be back at stupid o'clock in the morning. A rude welcome to the start of the second wave season. |
Plus unfavourable winds at NCL, damp runway and full loads.
|
Well if you insist on flying a light twin with no performance!
Hope the weather is nicer when they get home after a very long night. |
doesn't seem to bother other airlines or were they using 737-300 and hoping all would be ok.
anyway even longer night for crew with clocks going forward |
737 800 I belive.
Do not fly those so know nothing about performance other than they do seem to struggle to lift a lot of weight on a wet runway. Fortunately I have the privilege to operate a very over powered aircraft.:ok: I have noticed on a warm day Airbus some times seem to be having trouble, often departing with a light tail wind from places like ACE and Corfu if that allows them to depart over the sea rather than towards rising terrain so it is not only 737 operator's that can have problems. |
EXS518 (B738 G-GDFU) is on its way back to NCL from TFS and is scheduled to land at 03:29H.
|
or you and your mates could just not act like prats, then there would be no need to apologize? Only joking, we arent yobs, but 4 days without the mrs's and we get a bit giddy thats all :) |

2 of the "company types" are showing operating the LS169 that week.... It could be a 733 or a 752. |
Anyone know when Summer 2017 will be available for Jet2?
|
by the end of this month.
Thomas Cook went on sale today Thomson ive heard around 21st?? |
Cheers HH6702! :)
|
Will MAN now become jet 2,s main base as opposed to LBA with the new acquistion?
|
New acquisition??
|
Brigantee is just shooting in the dark yet again.
He was on the Monarch pages a couple of weeks ago with "Monarch are being sold", "Monarch will be broken up", "Easyjey or Norwegian are buying Monarch" etc etc etc with no credible evidence to back up his claims. So I guess since Greybull have now purchased the steel works up north he has decreed that Greybull have sold Monarch to finance the purchase !! |
If jet2 were to buy monarch and I doubt it the following would happen in my eyes
They would keep the flying and routes offered but under jet2 holidays apart from gatwick. They would then sell the gatwick slots to the highest bidder. It would get them into BHX and LTN however I think they would even pull LTN flights? |
jet2
hi all
have they bought a hanger at man?? just a thought. sm1 |
No they are not buying Monarch but they have made a purchase at MAN by all accounts .
|
A hanger at Manchester then
|
hopefully it's a hangar... :=
