Can anyone confirm Jet2 have crew bases at the below and if so, have I missed any?

Thanks,

EGNM Newcastle
EGNT East Midlands EGNX
Glasgow EGPF
Edinburgh EGPH

BasilFawlty 19th Jan 2016 15:05

As far as I know Blackpool was never a crew base, all flights were operated by Manchester crews.

Johnny F@rt Pants 19th Jan 2016 15:54

BLK was a base, crewed locally.

Alicante is also a crewed base, you've missed that one.

BAladdy 21st Jan 2016 03:44

Titan Airways are to once again operate on behalf of LS for S16. Using a 212 seat A321 (G-POWN), which is to be added to the Titan Fleet in April.

Does anyone know where the aircraft will be based?

JB007 21st Jan 2016 05:04

Manchester! B757 also at LBA from end of March...

Brigantee 21st Jan 2016 10:06

Hope to god we are not getting a privilege shed :ugh:as well?

B737900er 26th Jan 2016 13:30

Air Europa will be in GLA S16.

Don't think Privilege Style are operating for Jet2 this year.

strawberry Ribena 27th Jan 2016 00:12

What was wrong with privilege style?

MKY661 27th Jan 2016 00:13

I'm not sure what actually happened but I read on this forum that something didn't go down well last summer.

Brigantee 27th Jan 2016 00:55

Perhaps you should ask what was right with privilige ... it did us no favours whatsoever

kkbuk 28th Jan 2016 20:27

Thank you for that information JohnnyF@rtpants. Now that I have to drag my ancient bones to Alicante in order to fly to Edinburgh I fear that I shall transfer my allegiance to the Irishman's outfit.

No, don't do that.

I'm going to have to use ALC too to get to the holiday home, it's 15 mins from Murcia. Unfortunately it's all about ££ these days.

Hi all
Managed to get some time off due to heavy maintenance and booked on to jet2 GLA - ACE 13/3/16. Just wondering if its a 738, what the interiors are like, seat pitch, seats non recliners??? etc. Usually flown TCX past 5 years but J2 much cheaper this year

Johnny F@rt Pants 2nd Feb 2016 21:54

Most flights from GLA are B737-800. Seats don't recline :ok:, seat pitch is generous (not sure of the exact pitch) due to the clever seat design. The interiors of all the aircraft are very new, they have been refitted and had larger overhead lockers fitted to help with room in the cabin.

Enjoy your trip.

Jet2 crew bases

Skipness,

Should Alicante not be on that list? They do tend to have a 733 stationed there, I understood that some crew were based there also?

The backup ac has been able to position to airports around the network quickly and hence keep the operation running smoothly. I've seen examples of where the plane was deployed to Pisa and Tenerife before from there for rescue missions. Potentially has upsides in terms of minimising costs from extensive delays while keeping things on track..

Jetblast79 3rd Feb 2016 01:08

Yes! There are 2 aircraft based at ALC. 1 flying and another 1 as back up. Crew based, too.

Great news about the non reclining seats and seat pitch, fed up having my knees round my chin, can't wait to get time off and let someone else do the driving

MKY661 3rd Feb 2016 11:28

Jet2 will now be acquiring 4 second hand 737-800's instead of three this winter, although the Ex. SunExpress aircraft which was due will now be an Ex. Transaero Aircraft (Source: jethro's UK and Ireland Airline Fleet Listings).

Twiglet1 3rd Feb 2016 19:01

How has the recruitment been over the winter? There were lots of suggestions about turn over and no crew left.Fact fiction or usual moaning pilots 😠

Inaugural Edinburgh Airport Flights

The first flight of the Edinburgh Airport expansion in 2016 left on Friday bound for Tenerife. Today, the second flight bound for Lanzarote departed, and is well on its way. The one 738 based there is set to have a very busy season indeed, alongside what is currently 3 733QC and 1 733WL :ok:

Jet2_738 14th Feb 2016 16:56

Early Fleet Shortages?

Various non-LS aircraft have been operating under the channex callsign recently. Does anyone know why we have;

A Germania A321 operating LS218
A Thomson 738 operating LS632

Scary if we're having fleet shortages this early in the season :ok:

ematom1 14th Feb 2016 17:17

Also had a Neos 737-800 operating EMA-ACE-EMA on Saturday

taxi_driver 18th Feb 2016 08:28

Shortage of aircraft, or shortage of crew?

Alot of guys have left recently, with probably more to follow so I suspect the latter, and this is a quiet time of the year...

JM926 18th Feb 2016 10:04

Can't see crewing shortage as being the reason to be honest.

Most crew have a very quiet roster at the minute. For what it's worth my guess is aircraft still being in maintenance.

The inaugural flight to Tenerfie operate at 100% load factor, with 189 passengers onboard!

olster 18th Feb 2016 18:24

Will Jet 2 increase its North Atlantic programme or is it just a 'one - off' Christmas shopping special to EWR?

cheers

Anyone know why Jet2 are pulling its winter routes from LBA, EDI, EMA, MAN & NCL to Chambery as from April?

Looks like LBA, EMA and EDI are all getting replacement flights to Grenoble next winter 2016/17 season, whilst they already serve Grenoble from MAN

Johnny F@rt Pants 1st Mar 2016 14:33

Chambery pulled due to the many issues it regularly creates when things don't go to plan down there.

INKJET 1st Mar 2016 20:14

Chambrey

When it work its fantastic, but slots, bad weather just make it a hassle 50% of the time, i've given up and go by way of Geneva or Grenoble if its a coach connection, you end up waiting for other flights, so what you save in transfer time you lose at the airport. A good decision by Jet2, no doubt Titan will continue with it, but they don't have a flying program to cover when delayed.

garry8g 1st Mar 2016 21:14

GJZHF - now registered

GJZHF joins the Jet2 fleet!

I see that the first of the 4 B738 joining the fleet was registered on 29/02/16.
Although location is unknown.

HOODED 2nd Mar 2016 08:07

4 new 738s

It arrived at LBA yesterday still in Transavia colours.EI-RUE is also sat at Multiflight but this one is in full Jet2 grey minus rudder which is still in Transaero colours.

Leeds Spotter 3rd Mar 2016 16:38

Do we know if the full page advert in the RAF NEWS in mid January have a good response for Jet2.
I have no idea if the basic of 65k plus bonus a good salary.
Hopefully the 30 new 737's on order will be a plus to offer new pilots, with the added bonus they are for the first 18 at least to replace older aircraft. All should arrive in the next 24 months.

No EDI to GNB flight added yet. Does anyone know when flights are expected to be released. EDI-TRN has been added for W17

Honiley 6th Mar 2016 17:07

They certainly made a 'Dogs Dinner' of Chambery a few weeks ago! Probably the catalyst for the commercial decision to pull out! Whilst we all made it in eventually, Jet2 diverted to LYS/GNB then went to Clermont Ferrand!!! A delightful 5 hour drive for their customers!!!

I think straight forward Benidorm is more their thing!!!

Chesty Morgan 6th Mar 2016 18:22

Oh my God! A diversion...from Chambery...you must be joking.

Jet2_738 6th Mar 2016 18:31

With respect Honiley, the only reason for the diversions were due to the weather in Chambery - not anything Jet2, nor ANY other tour operator could have done anything about. For the last few months on their status page, they've advised all customers to be prepared for potential disruption in Chambery, something we all know is inevitable every season.

Station_Calling 7th Mar 2016 19:15

There were other diverts that day.

2Planks 8th Mar 2016 07:09

And the passengers that I spoke to were full of praise for the speed at which Jet2 provided them with hotel accommodation in Clermont Ferrand. Yes, they were frustrated with the delays, but were kept informed through the day. Skiers are used to travel delays and are well aware of the potential delays at Chambery, just check any of the snowsports forums. This season has been bad for diversions for most airlines out of Chambery in comparison with previous years. There was a chance of a hassle free weekend until some twit left a rucksack in the terminal last Saturday and it had to be evacuated. They must be thinking they can't win.

Perhaps they should double the size of the terminal and the apron at Grenoble so Chambery can revert to a pleasant summer VFR airfield!
