Anyone know what G-LSAG was doing at LGW today? Currently on route to MAN as EXS148C.

Jet2 had 5 aircraft committed to Six Nations traffic to Dublin from Rome today.
Is nobody else interested in this traffic given the low utilisation of fleets at this time of year? In recent months it seems they have a large chunk of the football/rugby etc. charter work to themselves! |
"GLAinsider" Jet2's Boeing 757-200’s G-LSAG and G-LSAK have been operating the Fred Olsen cruise charters today which tend to operate every other week between London Gatwick and Tenerife.
As mentioned earlier by "flybar" Jet2 have also been operating quite a few charter flights carrying Irish Rugby Union fans between Dublin and Rome this weekend using Boeing 737-800 G-GDFD, Boeing 737-300 G-GDFO, along with Boeing 757-200’s G-LSAE and G-LSAH |

In recent months it seems they have a large chunk of the football/rugby etc. charter work to themselves! I know last year the French fans used all sorts of airlines to travel to Cardiff. Jet2, Monarch, Europe Airpost, Air France Regional, Air France, Atlantique Air Assistance, Luxair, Airexplore, XL Airways France, Transavia France, Albastar.ES, Aeronova, LOT Polish Airlines, WDL Aviation. |
Flybar...
As LBIA said:
AK and AG both did LGW - TFS - LGW, with AK then positioning to NCL, and AG positioning to MAN. All part of the Fred Olsen Cruise programme - think this was the penultimate flight of the programme. DW. |
Jet2 are to base a Boeing 737-800 in Lanzarote as from November. The single based aircraft will operate up to 6x weekly flights to Blackpool, Belfast Int’l, Glasgow & Manchester throughout the the winter 2013/2014 season.

Rumours last year were that Jet2 were going to look at LPL again this year? Anyone know anything? It would definetely be worth their while!

BOH
With the great success that Jet2 has experienced in the northern UK market since it's formation going to head to head with the likes of Easyjet, Monarch and Ryanair wouldn't it make sense for Jet2 to look futher south for future expansion perhaps towards Bournemouth which is totally under utilised with only Ryanair to compete with on scheduled flights for only 9 months of the year plus a single short seasonal flight with Easyjet to Geneva.
It has a long runway, a new terminal and a wide catchment area and is ripe for expansion if only a consistent operator were to offer a good selection of destinations on a yearly basis. I know Bournemouth has it's drawbacks such as public transport links and not being on a main highway but the fact is there has always been a very limited choice at the airport over the years and not really catering to the needs of the wider catchment area. I know Jet2 were going to fly from BOH to Belfast a few years ago but that's a different story but with the great advertising that Jet2 is known for I am sure that BOH could be a good opportunity for them. |

Rumours last year were that Jet2 were going to look at LPL again this year? Anyone know anything? It would definetely be worth their while! ALC/ACE-LPL/BOH/STN/BHX could have been done. Its only 2 routes, but like I say, a good chance to see if the Jet2 brand could work at these airports. Ive missed out LGW as competition is rife here, and I don't think Jet2 could survive a price war down there. |
I thought the ALC and ACE aircraft were only on standby to reduce costs under EU 261?

In one word no, they have decided Liverpool has Easy and Ryan, so risky to start a new venture there There are so many un-served routes at LPL, it would be a goldmine for them! An airline like Jet2, Monarch or thomson would hit the jackpot at LPL. |
Jet 2 where established at Manchester Befor Easy And Ryan joined in THATS THE DIFFRENCE:rolleyes: its just to much of a gamble at Liverpool in the current economic climate. In fact thats the prob at Liverpool Easy and Ryan rule the roost, and no airline will gamble money on a base there. Well for a few years anyway, money is just to tight

Jet2's ex Austrian Boeing 737-800WL, G-GDFR positioned from Manchester to Bournemouth this morning for its delayed paint job. It is hoped that G-GDFP will follow in a few days time.
Also looks like the first of the 2x leased Travel Service Boeing 737-800WL's OK-TSA has received an interim paint job in Norwich and is read for service. OK-TSA Boeing 737-8S3/W | Flickr - Photo Sharing! |
Does anybody where GDFL is based now, I see she's not at BLK at moment as been swopped with FK without the winglets, Just wondered as last time saw her come in she came in with what sounded like a abang and there were a few people peering in one of the engines? was over a weeek ago now, meant to ask at time, but forgot all about , just not seen her on Flightradar either.
|
GGDFL operated BFS-TFS today so definately still flying. Maybe that was just routine maintenance looking in the engine?

BJL
Anyone at LS heard of any progress in the move to medium haul to The Gambia? BJL.
Looks like MON are scaling back to just LGW - BJL and cut MAN - BJL 2013/14 |
TLV dropped?
No longer able to book TLV beyond November 2013. Have Jet2 succumbed to EZY competition?
|
Yes easyjet have increased to 3 weekly from Feb 2013 and rumoured to be 5 weekly for S14, o looks like Jet2 have thrown in the towel.
|
Would be good to give TCX some competition on MAN-BJL, I'm sure Gambia Experience would be happy to buy seatsits a good moneyspinner for TCX and Thomas Cook Holidays. Monarch did not fly this or last year as far as I can remember.
|
Can anyone see Jet2 being interested in G-FCLH/B which are being returned to their lessors?
|
Is the registration of that Travel Service aircraft hiden?
Will it remain OK-TSA or are they changing it to a British registration? |
Jet2 are scaling down the 757's like other airlines and favouring the 737-800 for the immediate future! Dont think they have any plans for gambia as yet as they are sticking to core sun routes that they know they can fill.

Royal mail contract
Any heard if the royal mail contract which is due to end in Oct 2014 has been renewed? It was out for tender & expected to be decided in Q1 this year.
Thanks. |
The summer leased Travel Service Boeing 737-800-WL, OK-TSA was positioned from Norwich to East Mids this evening and will enter revenue service tomorrow.
|
The 2 tommy cooks are most likely going to fed ex, i would say that i can see jet2 flogging some of theirs in the next year or 2. Jet2 would be best with a 767 for banjul.
