Would be good to see these guys in the south! Fairdealfrank I think jet2 have ambitions other than the North of England. Philip Meeson is ambitions, another MOL, but without a pram to throw toys from. They are good to fly with also, I reckon 10 years down the line they will be as far as Exeter and maybe SEN. |
I would imagine a LPL base would be bad news for BLK, and that would be start of BLK base being run down, yes BLK has one or two new routes for next year , but it's at expense of other routes, either by routes going completely or reduced frequency on others, plus BLK gets very little for the winter, there's no real expansion going on as every other base has had. Can see LPL taking routes that BLK would/may have got had it not got such tight opening times:(. On other hand can't see Ryanair or easyjet being too happy at LPL , having someone else in on their patch, can see FR retaliating at one LS's strongholds .

I can't see Jet2 moving into Liverpool at all..I may be wrong, but it will not be Liverpool nor the niche market Blackpool that will suffer.
I know quite a few passengers from Liverpool use MAN (No idea why)..If jet2 move into Liverpool, then JET2 at MAN could suffer. There is a big gap called the Mersey between Liverpool and Blackpool. Liverpool although a great airport have seen losses in frequency of late et al..Why would Jet2 go there, at the moment?. Makes no sense. if Jet2 muscle in on routes like they did with Monarch (AGP} at BLK, Liverpool may find trouble with EZY and maybe FR gone. |
Why did FR move into MAN as its clearly affecting there own operation at LPL and FR said they want to wipe out Jet2 and Thomas Cook from MAN.
By Jet 2 going to Liverpool they will have operations at LBA, BLK, MAN and LPL a nice little circle around north England yes there MAN base may be affected but is that not happening now with recent new routes being added from BLK and LBA? Then it could only be to pi*s off FR at LPL and FR did to them at MAN. Jet 2 could bring a lot of Eastren Europe routes to LPL but FR can't however EZY could and do to an extent. |
I can't see FR wiping out Jet2, paying close attention to Jet2's marketing of late we see the prevalance of Jet2 holidays. They are quite diversified model, going after package holidays, niche low frequency markets and the package holiday market had quite a brochure. Go beyond that and they have substantial night freight flying program. Are there opportunities for LS at LPL as far as freight.?

Why did FR move into MAN as its clearly affecting there own operation at LPL and FR said they want to wipe out Jet2 and Thomas Cook from MAN. I would not want to see MOL and Meeson at an airport like Liverpool, They are fine with EZY and FR at the moment. I can't see FR wiping out Jet2, paying close attention to Jet2's marketing of late we see the prevalence of Jet2 holidays. They are quite diversified model, going after package holidays, niche low frequency markets and the package holiday market had quite a brochure. I fly with Jet2, and there is always a special welcome and thank you for pax that have booked with Jet2 Holidays. I flew from Loverpool to Fuerteventura at Easter, Outbound with EZY and inbound with FR..Quite a good experience with both. Not sure I like the all male cabin crew that FR had that flight. |
I do think there's room for Jet2 in Liverpool. There are quite some routes that Jet2 operate from other bases that could operate from Liverpool and that EZY and FR don't fly to. I can perfectly see a 737-800 being based at LPL operating routes like Dalaman, Paphos, Larnaca, Rome, Budapest and Prague. And I think there's enough market in the area to not affect Jet2's own flights from Manchester.

I would imagine a LPL base would be bad news for BLK, and that would be start of BLK base being run down, yes BLK has one or two new routes for next year , but it's at expense of other routes, either by routes going completely or reduced frequency on others, BLK have lost jersey which was bizarre considering that Menorca and Ibiza made way for to accommodate that. Ibiza is back and Jersey has gone, not surprised...BLK have also gained Lanzarote and Dalaman, I can't see Jet2 saturating with having Dalaman a route from BLK, Liverpool and MAN.. Also the route that has had its frequency cut at BLK is Belfast, which is only a filler route at best. If and it's only an if, LA fly Pathos,Larnica,Rome, Budapest and Prague - That won't make a scrap of difference to BLK... Also just one more route from Jet2 at BLK, say Corfu or Sardina for instance 2014, that would mean a3rd based a/c at BLK if my sums are right. BLK is a goldmine to Jet2, so I doubt Liverpool would be a threat, not sure it will happen though. . |
Jet2 have now just added for sale a new once weekly Leeds-Bradford to Pula (Croatia) service for next summer 2013 season, Flights will operate on Sundays commencing from May 26th and will run until the end of September

G-LSAN returned to southend after its paint job at norwich, looks very smart in its jet2 holiday livery

Looking very good, indeed. Here's a picture:http://www.flickr.com/photos/aeropix/7692383446/

Jet2 NCL - PSA flight turned back north over leicester and is currently in the LBA hold. Flew through storms earlier.

Any further info on the problem? I assume holding to burn off fuel?

LS547 NCLPSA
Landed LBA 2018, flight due to depart LBA 2130 (presumably on a different aircraft).
|
LS547 departed LBA at about 22-15 on G-CELH, arrived back at NCL about 03-30.
|
According to flight radar, appears to be two Jet 757s in an emergency situation at the same time. LSAN & LSAH.(TFS-LBA). Isn't LSAN the "new " one ?
Hopefully only minor snags. LSAN appears to have landed safely at Newcastle. Looks like AH diverted back to TFS shortly after take off. |
LSAN had just taken off from SEN was over north sea when emergencywas called

CELH on LS439 LBA to Dubrovnik Diverted back to Leeds this morning after 1 hour into flight over Germany (Essen)
** Update - CELH has re-departed LBA at 10:20 for DBV as LS439A (EXS439A) |
1432lba
Does anyone know the reason for their return. To get to Essen and come all the way back, it can't have been too serious. The aircraft looked OK when it passed my window on the return.
|
CELH is 26 years old. You would expect it to go wrong sometimes.
|
G-CELH returned to LBA this morning due to A crew member becoming sick so they turned back to pick up a replacement crew member rather than carry on and not be able to bring a full load of passengers back from Dubrovnik this afternoon.
|
Crew member probably younger than 26.

Any ideas
MAN- TLV is delayed for technical reasons. Should have left almost two hours ago.
Anyone any ideas what is wrong? |
>>>Boy does somebody look stupid...
Why? I was stating a simple fact. If CELH was a car it would be C reg. I was going to ask how old the sick crew member was, but I have been beaten to it.:D |
VC10man
If CELH was a car it would be C reg.
Aye, but would the C be at the front or the end of the reg plate? ;) Whilst I'm here, are Jet2 still considering ABZ? They dropped a hint earlier this year whilst talking about new GLA routes that ABZ could be 'something for the future'. Wherether than means 2013 or 2033 I'm not too sure though! :O |
Good news for MAN LS pax today. Air Poland B738 already done MAN-IBZ-MAN, now on way to MJV. This bird is only 7 years old, ex FlyGlopespan.
Is this staying around a while or is it covering a specific sickly Jet2 machine? |
Perhaps you mean an ex-Air Poland B738 and now part of the Air Italy fleet. Best air hostess uniforms ever to be seen with supoerb Italian styling.
|
757 G-LSAN diverted into Newcastle with a serious fuel leak, whilst on air test over the North Sea from Southend. It was ferried back to Southend yesterday for further checks. It should be in service by now.

G-LSAN
Now up in the air again!
|
G-LSAN
Looks like on its way back to Southend at 19.30 BST!

Looks like Jet2 are to lease yet another aircraft. As Avion Express Airbus A319-112, LY-VEU is due to position into LBA this evening from CDG as EXS043R
|
G-LSAN

Thanks LBIA. A very helpful reply (unlike others).

Looks like B757-200WL, G-LSAN is positioning up to Leeds tonight as EXS053D from Southend and should enter service on Sunday. B757-200, G-LSAH is also due to return to Leeds this evening from Tenerife as EXS041A. It will be out of service for a few more days yet after it's decompression incident on Tuesday requires all it's oxygen and masks putting back in.
Meanwhile Boeing 737-300, G-GDFH has had its skin repaired, It was pulled out of the Multiflight hanger this morning and will operate a test-flight tomorrow afternoon as EXS051B. |
As ematom1 suggests hiring a Hi Fly A310 and Euroatlantic 767 over the last 3 weeks or so won't be cheap. :\
|
jet 2
i think they were also using a stategic airlines a320 at manchester this afternoon
|
Well Jet2's latest Boeing 757-200WL, G-LSAN operated it's first revenue service this morning doing the EXS271 from Leeds to Alicante. The bad news is that it only got halfway and then diverted into Paris-Cdg for some reason.
I wonder if it's anything to do with the fuel leak related problem that caused it to divert in to Newcastle last week while on its air-test? Meanwhile bmi baby, Boeing 737-500, G-BVKB has been leased this evening and will operate the EXS205/206 Leeds-Amsterdam-Leeds services. |
