No, they used the edge of the original 1960’s terminal. This entrance later became the access to the temporary arrivals area and is now used as a staff entrance.
The old unused domestic building became an executive terminal for Reed Aviation and later still was the Easyjet HQ.
The site is now a multi story car park.

Most people are not in a union. Plenty of jobs on the notice boards at £8.91 an hour. If you are lucking you get a contract. If you are unlucky it is a zero hours contract. And what do you get for working on Christmas Day or 3 in the morning? Why the same £8.91 an hour. . The airlines want ever bigger discounts so where do the savings come from?

As there are permanent vacancies the boards never get updated.
Also try Googling Luton Airport vacancies. A company called Total Jobs is at the top of the listing. Their first job pays £8.91 second job pays £9

As elsewhere, a lot of weather related drama today, including numerous go-arounds. A WizzAir A321 from Pristina carried out a couple of orbits in the approach pattern, then made a missed approach, then another couple of orbits over Milton Keynes before diverting.... to Vienna!
Earlier, a Ryanair 738 from Knock did two missed approaches, diverted to Stansted, missed again, then went to East Midlands.

Challenging conditions once again, few strange approaches & holdings going on. Hats off once again to captains, busy day again like yesterday with biz traffic.

It's the beginning/end of half term, which may explain the current traffic levels. A significant proportion of the biz flights were to/from ski destinations.

Construction update
Photos taken yesterday.
Work has yet to start on the Luton Dart Parkway forecourt although this would not necessarily
stop the Railway Station - Dart Station interchange opening up before completion, as that is confined to the first floor.

Taken through rather dirty windows, these two photos shows Parkway's lobby for passengers that will arrive by car or on foot.

Heading up the hill the station has been named.

The passenger walkway from the station to the terminal is still under construction. It is identical to the existing walkway. Photo also shows the planned infill site for stage one of the proposed airport expansion. The tiny infill, which will bring out the terminal so it is level with the dark grey frontage will allow the airport to handle an extra 3.5m passengers. Site access for construction and materials will be challenging to say the least, as will passenger comfort at 21.5m

No idea what this is going to be for but I am speculating some sort of parking area looking at the depth of the foundations. This sits over the tunnel so won't be anything substantial.

I can tell you something my granny arriving from Poland to visit would have no idea what that sign means.
Why on earth didn’t they just put up a sign saying “trains this way”.
can’t understand this ludicrous obsession with the terminology “dart” which 99% of the people arriving on planes will have no idea what it means

The actual Dart journey might be two minutes quicker but it is a two minutes walk to the terminal while the shuttle bus is almost by the front door. At the other end it is called Luton Dart Parkway. I can’t understand why that building is so big as there will never be more than a couple of dozen passengers using it at any one time as they will just wait on the train.
At least the bus station is called a bus station.
