Work is also under way on Stand 42/42L to enable diagonal parking for a widebody once the changes are made to the North Apron.

I see there are going to be 2 A330 in at the same time today. MNG is obvious, any idea what the Maleth A330 arriving from Ibiza and departing to Vietnam is all about?

STN is getting 2x Enter 738s from Ibiza as well, end of season clubbing traffic. I think they do 18 hours with top DJs, just a guess.

Didn't the compass swing bay get swallowed up by the taxiway extension a few years ago ?

I only glanced an A330 for a few seconds as I drove between the Holiday Inn and the Ibis before heading down the hill. I didn’t see any navigation beacons flashing but I may have missed them so it appeared to be parked up.

The airport is quiet creative at finding unofficial stands. There seems to be enough room between the two taxiways on the former compass bay but then it might have been me not looking long enough. Also it could have been parked up on the taxiway.

The Maleth was in on Thursday along with an Enter Air to Ibiza so was bringing the pax back from some sort of jolly. There has been a number of charters at Luton recently not all football related.

It will never break-even, even at £9.80 return, due to its running costs including electricity, staff, management, interest payments and maintenance.

But it isn't necessary about absolute cost- we have to grapple with this thing called climate change which will demand modal shift in terms of transport.

And how much energy was consumed building the Dart over 5 years? If this is all about climate change then electric buses was a more eco friendly option. Remember the Dart is being built to serve 18m passengers, which was achieved in 2019. Future expansion has not been approved. Haven’t seen any zero rated Airbuses either so maybe expansion plans should be put on hold until they are already landing at Luton as part of the modal shift.

Ah, that's the troble with 'green', 'sustainability', ESG and climate chain arguments. You invoke them when they suit your argument but stay mum otherwise.
On that score it's about time the equestrian lot faced up to the methane consequences of their selfish hobby.

Reading up about those buses, they are still very much in the development phase. Can't see how long they take to recharge unless you are thinking of the trolly bus version. I do love this green debate when you ask how those nasty batteries are going to be disposed of environmentally, the answer gets dodged. Also batteries need replacing as a friend with a hybrid car has found out, more than the cost of his second car originally! He is now out of pocket and back to a diesel.

In Scotland most new buses are electric. The major builders are discontinuing their diesel models. There are electric coach services from Aberdeen to Glasgow.

London already has 650 zero emission buses. https://www.intelligenttransport.com...lectric-buses/

The Dart has nothing to do with being green but as another enabler for a second terminal. The first enabler was the phoney planning application for a business park that had a then mysterious £125m dual carriageway serving it. Most of the business park plan has been replaced by the infrastructure needed for a second terminal but importantly the road is now outside the DCO, as it has already been approved.

Since approval the Council can’t make a business case to get the road built to serve a mini business park. In fact they couldn’t make a business case for a full sized business park because the road was planned for a second terminal but they can’t admit it. It is my opinion that they abused the planning system so they could approve this road.

Guess that would make sense, then the fence can be pulled back to enable Delta to open by the 31/10 as per NOTAM

If you look at the last photo of the construction update the strip can be seen between Delta and the service road.
