ToTM, It's true, T1 is now staying, part of pier C (The side facing T2) will be connected to T2 therefore those stands(22-28) will be lost.
With each update of the TP is seems less and less is going to be improved. Very underwhelming.
With the next update they will probably cancel the building of the piers!

Whoever wrote that article has probably just been rehashing the rumours from here and various other on-line sources.
The facts are that AA go seasonal with the JFK and ORD from October this year.
IAG are starting low cost long haul from BCN and have plans to increase from other airports. Could be MAN, who knows?
Moving to T1 makes no sense, apart from their engineers based on C pier, there is no advantage. The current AA ops are in T3 as are Vueling and BA domestic. Aer Lingus moving to T3 would make more sense.
Other One World partners are well established in T2.
Until the new work is complete and US pre clearance is approved I won't hold my breath.

The article was good until it mentioned T1.
As for T1, seems the whole redevelopment is being value engineered until it just whittles down to 'we will perform another temporary fix on the skylink travelators.

It's the first time in living memory that I can recall a top civil servant / minister actually recalling there are airports outside London, let alone supporting them

Shed on a Pole is wrong.
MAG absolutely can just order airlines to move terminals, it happens quite a lot. Given MAN is not really a hub for any alliance it doesn't matter what terminal they're all in and to be fair, even some parts of the business are challenging the needs of the big alliances anyway. I don't think they'll be phased out, but there's almost no value in having BA/EI/VY colacated for the tiny amount of traffic they'll be connecting. Something is wrong with your day if you need to fly DUB-MAN-Vueling! There are better, more direct options just as people no longer ought to fly MAN-LHR-Europe for the most part.
Offering MAN long haul should not impact MAD/LHR/DUB as the likely routes have been offered for years so hardly likely to impact growth plans. A great shame that American's once reliable MAN op has been reduced to something BA of all people look like picking up, and this time with very little pressure from the London end, this is self inflicted from the US.
Btw SirHumphreyNorth, you also seem very familiar.....

Thanks for the clarification LAX.
This could just be the thing that AirBlue needed. Could be an ideal time to re-start flights however I know there is lots of negativity surrounding the AirBlue name because of the frequent delays and cancellations that occurred.

Air Blue were going to restart back when Shaheen did, even adding prominent banners to their website claiming as such, but then backed down when Shaheen got in there first.
With Shaheen out of the picture, I do wonder if AirBlue will have another look. The old route was quite successful until they decided to run a small sublet of fuel hungry unreliable A340-300's. If they go back to their roots, it could again work?

Disappointing news about Vueling but perhaps not too surprising. Maybe chose the wrong route.
Air China schedules Shanghai ? Barcelona May 2017 launch :: Routesonline
Is MAN still in the queue for slots and if so, a little nearer the front?

Hearing slots at AMS were the issue for this summer.

Flights on sale without permissions/slots is nothing new. Remember the 2005 attempt from CX to launch Manchester. AMS is actually getting close to its flight cap, so, the notion isn't as ridiculous as it sounds.
