Whoever wrote that article has probably just been rehashing the rumours from here and various other on-line sources.
The facts are that AA go seasonal with the JFK and ORD from October this year.
IAG are starting low cost long haul from BCN and have plans to increase from other airports. Could be MAN, who knows?
Moving to T1 makes no sense, apart from their engineers based on C pier, there is no advantage. The current AA ops are in T3 as are Vueling and BA domestic. Aer Lingus moving to T3 would make more sense.
Other One World partners are well established in T2.
Until the new work is complete and US pre clearance is approved I won't hold my breath.
