AA
As a side note, the flight was nowhere near 100% full in economy, I had two seats to myself and I know many others did. Business seemed fairly full however.
AA's JFK and ORD going back to 757s from late May to about first week of July. Would tend to indicate that bookings are indeed not great. AA don't do themselves any favours with their appalling reliability on both routes.

Virgin JFK also now 6 weekly for June, and selectively cancelling ATL on various dates in June.

Lots of people from cancelled ATL-MAN on the 1200 LHR-MAN yesterday - tired and complaining!

Sad to see the wheels coming off the AA services, such a poor offering. However, even sadder to see the ATL downgraded reliability after Delta had built up such a good product over so many years. My trips to the US have dwindled over the years, but when I have to go- always chose Delta via ATL. Shame that option is no longer available.

Does the American reduction indicate that BA are preparing to take over the services to JFK and ORD?

I doubt it too. On the other hand BA is pushing its customers onto the AA flights under a marketing code share. The lousy AA offering from the regions must be attracting some negative feedback by now from loyal BA customers. They are probably even losing some customers to the better quality VS and TCX nonstop competition at least in the busy summer months when both are offering daily, or close to daily, flights.
At some point surely BA have to sit up and take notice and do something to fix it ? Or maybe not....
Some regulars will go via LHR but by no means all.

It seems to me that American carriers have one final chance to improve their lot. The Tourism industry are saying that bookings to the UK for the summer are at an all time high due to the poor performing pound. If they fail MAN can see the likes of Norwegian and other low cost operators flying to the States.

I have to agree with this. I overheard a few people saying how they thought they had booked BA (assumed they booked the BA codeshare and didn't read the small print, as most do).

They were not happy at all with being on American plane. Many seemed to have flown out to JFK via LHR with BA and I heard repeatedly 'Where are the seatback TV's' 'Where are the charging ports' etc.

BA are tarnishing their own name a lot by themselves lately however the codeshare with AA seems to be also doing the same thing!

Not sure if the plans are in the public domain but work has started today from 212 onwards, which will eventually see a large boarding lounge constructed at 212 for stand 213, 214 and 215 with covered walkways leading to them.

I've seen the plans, and it does look slightly chaotic but I'm sure MAG have thought it all through

It appears Icelandair will use the B767 to Manchester on various dates from 9th Feb.

Nice to see another scheduled intra Europe widebody on offer.

Sad to see Delta go

Sad to see the final Delta flight leave Manchester yesterday, 25/5/17.
Some great people worked at their base here, and not all have been able to stay on in the business. Best wishes to them all, whichever career path they choose.

The way AA are going, they won't be too far behind Delta. Philly cancelled inbound today, then Chicago comes in but cannot leave as the outgoing captain "doesn't feel too good".

I know safety is paramount but it is just another in the ongoing catalogue of delays and cancellations.

AA have been in Manchester for 31 years yesterday and I, for one, would be so very sorry to see anything happen to them here at Manchester.

At this stage with AA, all bets are off. So many rumours about BA, but whether they turn up to replace AA or not, AA must be coming under pressure from VS and TCX in particular.

Impressive but won't do direct long haul any favors.

I wouldn't link AA's problems to BA coming, it wouldn't make commercial sense for AA to deliberately destroy routes and have BA come on. Both would easily come to an agreement that benefits both if they wanted to. Now BA may come back at some stage but hard to see it currently even in 2018 IMO.

Reality is I'm sure BA are benefiting from AA's regular cancellations and MAN is probally an easy target for AA to contain disruption with so much capacity to LHR to take the traffic. Not as easy in Europe to do the same thing.

It's more concerning that VS have chopped the odd flights in June...

Would't surprise me if they are back within 18 months with those B752's back on JFK.

Have travelled on AA several times over the years, last year was probably the last. Our flight to Phil was ok but on our next fight to TPA was stopped at the holding point because the loos were us. Our return though Chicago was also below par. B757 with no personal screens and a 2hr late departure are not good. This year we are going to Canada and our flight out is with Icelandair via KEF SEA to victoria BC so we will see. Our return is direct from SFO with TCX. the draw back with them is you have to pay to reserve a seat after you have booked your trip.
Cheers Sam

Considering that they have just laid off all their local staff, from check in to engineers, I doubt it.

Hainan to use the B787-9 on Mondays and Wednesday's from 3rd July. Will also operate the B787-9 on Fridays and Sunday's during August.

This means a good chance to see the 3 Kung Fu panda liveries.
