'Travelators' in Skylink
When will they work?
The two heading from the station to Terminal 1 have not worked since at least September, and when they did work in the Summer they were normally off/broken by lunchtime. In early December these were closed off and the steps were taken out - only for them to replace two in the one nearest to T1 and it still hasn't worked. The staff from OTIS can be seen working on them occasionally but they still don't work.
As for the escalators in the station; the sound of them is horrific and the one heading down from the Skylink to the concourse was being fixed during November but seems to be working again.
The walkways from T2 to the station seem to be more reliable although the last one nearest the station has had wooden boards at the end saying that it is out of order. I can't even remember the last time that this one has been on.
Overall the situation is nothing short of a shambles. Who is responsible for this, OTIS or MAG? Either way something needs to be done. I dread to think what visitors think of this 'Airport'.

I've been based at MAN for 20 years now flying worldwide and have seen one or two airports in that time. Although there are worse places, amongst our 'first world' competitors MAN's infrastructure is laughable by comparison. The joke amongst our crews is that 'you know when you're back at MAN because none of the escalators/travelators work' or perhaps 'the buckets catching the dripping water are full'. MAN is only successful because if you're to avoid LHR/LGW (as we all wish to do) there's no alternative.

What makes it even worse is that they have even stuck paper to the buckets on the Skylink with 'Water Collection' written on them. Makes it sound like a charity. All that happens at MAN when something goes wrong is MAG blame a contractor, they blame a sub-contractor who in turn will blame the contractor and as a result it takes years for anything to happen.

I knew the CPT flights would be a resumption, just couldn't remember how far back we would have had to go to remember the last carrier.
Given the TCX network from MAN, and the fact LGW will be in its second season by then so tried and tested, I trust they could make a better go than the like of AV8 and GSM.

I think it's worth noting just how much Thomas Cook has done for the long haul network at Manchester.
The tally of confirmed long haul routes now stands at 20, which considering that's 20 routes from one single carrier, that is more than any other UK regional airports total long haul network with all carriers.
It's remarkable because, while many airports are clamouring for any scrap of long haul from Norwegian, Thomas Cook has quietly just 'got on with it' and added this decent network, at a decent price with some decent reviews, yet you don't see the enthusiasts on forums clamouring for some TCX attention in the same way that they do with the ever dithering Norwegian?
This is the 20 destinations FWIW:
And rumours suggest TCX isn't done with these 20, as San Diego, Sanya and Tampa also in the frame. Then there is the deal with FOSUN which could enable some Chinese charters. sport packages to Old Trafford on 3rd party carriers have already started, so, there is scope for dedicated charters using the UK end of the bilateral.

Excellent point - a couple of reasons I think:

4 Sectors flown and she was quite lightly loaded in Business class but I have flown on other routes with other carriers where loads were similar when the route had just launched . Saigon /DXB springs to mind with only 5 in Business and 100 down the back on a 777! I think the route needs to be marketed more.

Seasonal to begin with.
The Sat flight is not in GDS yet, too far ahead (even the return from CPT on 11/1/18 was not showing until today), but, given I was told about this route a few months ago, the source told me 2 weekly so have no reason to doubt him.
