Brady is a buffoon.
I have no issue with an MP of any shade voicing an opinion on any matter they see fit, but Brady is almost pathological in his repetitive rants about extra runways at Heathrow.
If only he would show 10% of thst passion for the many constituents in his parish who work at Manchester!
When everybody else is consumed by Brexit what drives this individual to keep harping on about Heathrow ?
I wonder. ...........

Rosaviatsia, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, has approved VIM Avia to operate up to seven times a week services from Moscow to Manchester and Birmingham. No firm plans have been announced to start services but services to Moscow from Manchester were suspended by EasyJet in September 2015 leaving a gap in the market.

Was with one of our Engineers in Singapore at the weekend who had been in Perth for 10 days and as he didn't have a flight home booked due to no idea how long he would be away I was pleased to tell him I'd booked him a JCL ticket back on CX SIN-HKG-MAN with my stack of AVIOS. We then got a message saying CX357 was delayed to 05:30, which was bad enough, and then when I woke up in Saigon this morning I had a (less than impressed) message from him saying it had gone back again to 08:30 and I see it's still not landed...
Hope the same doesn't happen to mine at the weekend.

Today's CX357 is landing at MAN approximately 13:25UTC. Just really bad luck for your friend ... it is extremely unusual for the HKG-MAN to pick up a delay of this magnitude.

Terminal 3 and MAN TP
My understanding is that little to nothing is proposed for T3. Instead, what is proposed is a series of moves From T1 and T3 to T2 as it expands. Speculation previously on here and other forums was T3 would just end up being either FR or FR and BE.
In terms of timeframes, I don't know but my understanding is that we'll see remote stands being created at Staff West very shortly so we are looking at the use of bussing gates from T2 in the short(ish) term. How short that is I don't know. How quickly can you pour some concrete?!?

Thanks Gavin. However, whilst that works great in theory, the real problem seems to be that no carrier is keen to move out of T3 (unless you know differently). The candidates are:
RYANAIR - Highly unlikely to move. Love T3 and its proximity to the runways. Growth forecast at 33% for next financial year alone. Entrenched.
FLYBE / LOGANAIR / STOBART (IOM) - Another large T3 incumbent. Part of T3 is configured as a minihub for them. Highly unlikely to move.
ONEWORLD (and associated carriers):
British Airways
Sun-Air of Scandinavia (BA franchise)
Vueling
Iberia Express
American Airlines
With the BA / Oneworld group, one would probably expect these carriers to remain together so a bloc move would be required? One potential chink of light is that Oneworld carrier Finnair operates from T1 ... could (at least) one of the others be persuaded to join them there? Vueling could become amenable to relocation if rumours of future based aircraft hold any truth ... where would T3 fit them?
AIR FRANCE / KLM - On paper, persuading this pair to relocate would be ideal. But the situation seems to be that they're not interested in moving.
MICELLANY
Adria Airways
Tailwind Airlines
Denim Air
These three carriers operated four regular weekly flights between them in Summer 2015, and those outside peak hours. Moving these would not resolve any T3 capacity issues.
In the light of projected growth by Ryanair, FlyBe and Vueling in particular, something will have to give. But who will blink first? Are any of these carriers / groupings anywhere close to being persuaded / incentivised to switch terminal in the near term?
[Note: Obviously, American Airlines would likely move to T2 for US PDC, but that seems at least a couple of years away, maybe considerably longer].

Thomas Cook have loaded their Summer 2017 timetable.
Los Angeles and Miami increase to 3 weekly, New York to 9 weekly and finally, a new route to San Fransisco every Thu and Sun.

Shaheen Air
Whilst the arrival of any new airline to MAN is very welcome, a 16th March commencement for a long haul route does seem very short notice, considering the official announcement was only made this month.
Hopefully Shaheen has been busy behind the scenes courting the market for the last few months, and we are not about to embark on another "Flynas" extravaganza !!
PIA has already announced its own increase in MAN flights for the summer, and with capacity increases also from the MEB3 the competition for the Pakistani market is certainly heating up.

The response to the excellent news from TCX is underwhelming.
Is it because it is Thomas Cook?
If exactly the same announcement had been made with the word Delta or United in it, there would have been raptures across this forum. There is a lot of snobbery in the plane-fan community I fear.
Thomas Cook is a local airline, employing local aircrew and cabin crew. It's fleet is maintained at MAN.
Just on its own it now has a long-haul programme that is the envy of every other airport in the UK outside of LHR and LGW.
Having now tried the new transatlantic product from TCX I can tell you that the Premium Economy product is way way better than the US Carriers offering equivalently named offerings - for around half the price.
People should check out what's on offer here - there are some remarkably good deals - and significantly cheaper than the other TATL airlines.
The only beef I have with TCX is their website which does need serious attention. Quite often it refuses to take payment and that issue cost them one recent booking I made - now that is an existential issue that needs dealing with fast- but try the flying product. It really is very good.

All names taken
Totally agree with you that TCX is doing a superb job at MAN. An average of 5 longhaul A332 departures daily for next year, plus numerous narrow body aircraft flights is definitely not something to be sniffed at !
To those who claim that MAN lacks a significant based airline, think again !!

Dobo, Im sure VS/DL are running scared because of a mere 2 weekly service. It wouldnt make sense for them to fly the route and if it did TCX would not stop them.

Be honest you would be much happier with a US carrier as well.....

And San Francisco is awesome and a better start point to see California than LA in my opinion. Well done TCX.
Are all of these flights going to be fully connectable with the Flybe feeder? And if so, do we know how well that is doing?

The good news with the San Fran service is that TCX have spread the flights out nicely to offer a 5 weekly service to California next year.
LAX will be Mon/Wed/Sat, with SFO on Thu and Sun. Just Tue and Fri with no west coast service, for now as I'm hopefull 2018 may bring a daily flight, with possibly 4 weekly LAX and 3 weekly SFO.
I personally think the TCX news is fantastic. We now have a remarkable USA route portfolio, and, while others wonder if Norwegian could bring long haul to MAN and BHX, Thomas Cook have just got on with it at MAN.
Sure, the frequency may not be great just yet, but, as they have shown with daily JFK/MCO and 6 weekly LAS, TCX ar willing to put the frequency in if the route warrants it.
Some are not huge fans of Thomas Cook, but, hats off to them, they are doing something other carriers are unwilling to do at MAN with its network.
Now, of only we could persuade them to add Cape Town, that would be the icing on the cake.

Honestly, for the reasons I've already given - no. Unless I was in Business Class which TCX don't do.
I fly to the US at least once a month, often on Business but also when I'm paying myself going to see relatives, I'll usually take Premium Economy. I've now tried the vast majority of options from MAN more than once (except obviously PK).
For Business Class, the pecking order in terms of quality and service is:
DL VS UA AA
For Premium Economy (or near equivalent), the pecking order is:
TCX VS DL UA AA
For Economy, the pecking order is:
TCX DL UA (not tried the others in Economy)
I'm serious about this, the refurbished cabins on the TCX A330s are top notch and the cabin crew are a delightful change to the usual 'don't give a damn' attitude of the US carriers. All this for much less money.
