Stobart are now realising their huge investment is failing to drive company profit and shareholders will be demanding to know why soon.
Mind you, the Carlisle-Southend flights will be full and high yield, won't they?

From post 1030 (my underlining) - is this not accurate?

I still believe my point stands, unless there is a safety concern about an operation, it is generally assumed that safety is implicit so doesnt need to be explicitly stated.
Now if SEN had had a run of runway incursions or other avoidable accidents/incidents it would be reasonable to bring someone in with the mission of "improving safety", as far as I know this is not the case.
For SD to say that
Shame safety is not mentioned anywhere ! Now we know what Stobarts priorities are and its definatly not safety
To my astonishment, Adria really do seem likely to put a route to Maribor on sale by the start of next week - their website is already showing SEN and MBX as destinations
MBX 1820 SEN 1925 12-4--- JP162
SEN 2010 MBX 2305 12-4--- JP163
MBX 1820 SEN 1925 12-4--- JP162
SEN 2010 MBX 2305 12-4--- JP163

Flybe's website currently shows that there are 4 return flights to Dublin on April 3rd. SEN-DUB is only bookable on one flight at the expensive price, but DUB-SEN is bookable on all 4 flights with the old cheap prices! What is going on?
http://www.flybe.com/timetableClassi...EN&selDest=DUB
Looks to be operated by a SEN-based aircraft. The spare BE/Stobart ATR perhaps? Unlikely because the flight numbers would be BE6xxx if they were operated by a franchisee.

I don't understand what going on with Flybe SEN-DUB. Maybe It already arrange for Easter holiday before it collapse?
Adam
Look closely at the schedule for DUB-SEN-DUB on April 3 and you will see that although flight numbers and departure times match the LCY-DUB schedule, the arrival times are different. The SEN sector times as shown are 5 minutes shorter than the LCY times - so perhaps not a simple input glitch.
There are no obvious operational issues at LCY on April 3 and other services, including Flybe, are operating normally. Are they planning on using an aircraft or crew unapproved for LCY - possible I suppose but why ? Best to wait and see now I would say.

I've got a funny feeling that Southend Airport is pretty much going to turn into a Seasonal Airport, with lots of great family holiday destinations, short weekend destinations and cater less for out of season routes (apart from AMS which is insanely popular and busy all year round). The airport will be quieter in the winter months, but if they just recruit seasonal staff on 6 month contracts then they will not be obliged to employ full timers. EZY had its first PMI flight of the year this morning, and the airport should have its brand new restaurant and bar open very shortly!

Seasonal Airport
I think that is a pretty obvious comment when the major operator caters for sunshine routes on it's summer timetable.
The six month contract is odd. How can you run a professional operation if you use inexperienced staff? Think about it, after the person starts how long would it take for him/her to actually become proficient? So what would service levels be like when they all kick off en-masse? Strange thought....

I've seen the advertisements for staff for the new restaurant but is this going to be a proper restaurant this time around? Where is being located within the terminal?

Expressflight - the new restaurant will be located in the airside departures extension to the right of the down escalators after security. I understand it will be a hot food restaurant and bar operated by the existing food caterers and the current airside snack bar will remain open as well.
I was also told that the business lounge upstairs was to be extended into the Lakers Bar which will become defunct when the new bar opens.
It will then be looking like a "real" departure lounge at last. i hope they reduce the bar prices as Lakers prices are very expensive even for airport departure lounges.
