Sure I mentioned..and can't be bothered to confirm! .. that I suggested a few months ago that the removal of FK70 aircraft from the fleet might result in this sort of occurrence? Now what were those lottery numbers again???

I was booked on the afternoon KLM flight so know what happened.

MME flight was cancelled at around 12:00 CET (I asked to be rebooked to NCL but was first offered the evening MME flight - I am platinum so would have been one of the first put on a combined afternoon MME/LBA flight) at this time the LBA flights were still scheduled.

The MME was cancelled due to high winds at AMS so only one runway was in operation (so I guess the smaller routes were cut).

The LBA flight was diverted at around 15:00 due to high winds in Leeds. I arrived at AMS at about 15:30 and got put back on the diverted LBA flight so ended up where I wanted to be.

Plane was an E190 and was not full, suggesting that many of the MME pax were put on other flights.

Hmmm. Me thinks there's a difference between a bit of bad luck and "a bad start to 2017"

KLM down

KLM figures for 2016 appear to be down 2%...now is that "bad luck" or a bad year?
Over to you "No-more-bull...t"?

So what does 2% represent in real numbers?

Quick check back, in November Newcastle was down 3%.

Over to me?? Why? You think I somehow should justify it? Figures can only rise consecutively for so long, it's 2% - who cares?

That should avoid last minute schedule hiccups due withdrawal of Fokker F70 fleet?
Someone asked..roughly 2000 passengers down on 2015 KLM flights..not too good considering the fan fare earlier in the year about how well it's doing?
Don't ask about the other "flagship" route to Aberdeen...terrible!
Annual figure just about static,so a few more non flagship passengers..but definitely no obvious growth for PEEL. To hang their hat on?

Have Peel said they are looking to grow the airline side? Their attitude seems to be we'll talk to anybody who comes along but that growth will come from other areas of the business.

They'll only accept charter traffic under very specific circumstances and they appear to not want anything involving connecting traffic through fear of diluting KLM (and/or KLM has an exclusivity agreement), that limits their options significantly. The Flybe DSA w-patterns that keep getting mooted would appear our only hope of airline growth and should be the easiest deal to negotiate in the world so if it doesn't happen and happen soon it can be assumed beyond any doubt that new airline business is not being sought.

Thought the response to LHR runway 3 was a bit luke-warm...

Presumably the summer 2017 schedule is set, so will depend if there are appropriate gaps next winter/summer 2018?

Speaking of flybe.....

I see their starting into Heathrow late march from ABZ and EDI... another possible route peel could be pushing for... ABZ MME LHR.. gets you back into the capital and also gets a low cost on the Aberdeen route at the same time, 'which lets be honest' we could do with as eastern seem to charge what they want on that route, and loose a lot of Pax due to their high prices to the good old railways.. "I know plenty of offshore guys who wont pay Eastern's prices and use the train"..

Theirs plenty of business out their for peel/DTV to chase, but don't think they want it.....

and no-one would fly to ABZ with them if they had to stop at DTV en route. They'd just get on BA instead

I'd like to know how Flybe got their mits on LHR slots, especially since they left Gatwick after that airport increased the costs for aircraft with fewer than 100 seats, something which Heathrow did long before

I seem to remember the slots are part of a guarantee that BA gave in respect of domestic slots when they took over BMI. Before this they went to the ill fated Virgin Red domestics.
